I'd love to do the Grouse Grind one day, but I need to get into shape first!

Enjoy your trip and please report back!
Thanks for the suggestions! We had an awesome trip. Were able to do the following:
-Grouse Grind, this was absolutely majestic. It sorta drizzled 3/4 into the hike and it felt like a fantasy setting. If I lived in BC, I'd do it every week. Took me and the gf 2 hours instead of 1-1.5 like we expected. Went to Capilano after and it was a nice 'cool down'.

-Deep Cove trail. I stayed with my cousin and her fiance in NewWest, brought her dog and another dog they were dog sitting and it was a fun short hike with excellent views. Met loads of dogs and had a great picnic after.

-Sea to Sky. Best view I've seen in my life (although CN tower rivals it ;) ). There were tons of trails to do on the mountain, also checked out Shannon falls where the water looked amazing.

-Stanley Park, the trees were underwhelming at first, but the more we walked, the more we realized how damn big they were. Also rented e-scooters for the first time and did a lap around the island, felt like a badass doing that. Saw the totem park, lighthouse, and had a nice picnic there as well.

-Discovered an amazing restaurant (Tanoot Pizza), they had great vegan options and we went there twice. The rest of the food was a bit underwhelming. Vancouver had loads of nice vegan options, but my cousins convinced me to visit Saffron, which they proclaim is the best punjabi food in all of Canada. As indo-canadians from Brampton Ontario, those are big words. The restaurant wasn't bad, but it was 7/10 at best.

-We did groceries the first day and made our own food. The vegan grocery options were phenomenal and definitely will do more cooking when we visit next. Will make sure we try the vegan sushi and ramen tho, that was something we couldn't do.

My only critique, as someone who was used to everything being open till 10 pm while living in Ottawa and Toronto, it was annoying to see everything close at 7-8 pm, even on a Friday night. Forget nightlife, just getting dinner was a bit of a mission.

Wow, sounds like a great trip! Deep Cove is beautiful.

I have a few questions regarding the Grouse Grind: is it steps all the way up, or does it get tricky (climbing-wise) at parts? What kind of shoes do you need? I'm in my early 50s, not especially fit but not entirely out of shape either, and I want to assess how difficult it would be for someone like me.

It was a mix of steps, rocks, gravel trail, etc... Like its not a climb that you need a harness or poles, but you definitely want to wear hiking shoes! I got a cheap pair from Decathalon and was good to go (I'm an unfit fat Torontonian).

I think with a few practice hikes, you can manage it pretty well. You can always try doing it until the 1/4th mark and then turn back, it'll give you a measure of how much the whole thing would be (there's a sign that indicates it).

I saw a bunch of people in their 50s go a slow but steady pace. There were times where I was a head of them, but as I stopped to rest, they passed me lol

It’s a grind but not difficult, the elderly and children are able to complete the climb. Take your time, bring water, a snack and sunscreen, and stop to take pictures and take in the view when you need a break!

Google it there is a ton of info.

Couple of months ago, telling me policy changed, link to read the new one, that was it.
how did they get my e-mail.

it is not for this site.

The e-mail is my private/semi private one and I am somewhat certain I have never given it to the NHL

Happy July 1.. Canada Day

Just came back from the park in River Side South. Beautiful festival for the kids

shook Mayor Sutcliff's hand.

Me and my Chinese neighbors. Still a bit rough.., Mostly hand gesturing.

All in all a fine morning...

Incredible to see the multi culturism of this nation. All hand in hand in harmony..

get out there and enjoy the day...

True patriot love in all of us command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North, strong and free!
From far and wide
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

He's awesome
then tell your friend to pave our streets.

Since amalgamation, a steady deterioration of urban streets.

multi-million dollar homes in Manotick, 5 cent roads.

Although, grant it, the jealous in me says; let them ruin their Porsche's and Ferraris'. Okay forget it. Let Manotick roads erode.

while a few days late, a heart felt message.

leg warmers in support of the tribe.

I've had these for 20 years, from the McGill cycling club. Long before it was fashionable to support. I have heard, jeers, insults and every comment in the book..

Some of us do, some just shoot their mouths off.

So please, stop calling me a bigot. And stop calling my tribe bigots on the day when they were comforting me on my wife's 40th day of passing.

If you‘re a student of Canadian history

Wait what Mark Sutcliffe is your mayor? The Ottawa Lynx dude? This is kind of cool. How did this happen? It's like I left Ottawa and it turned into this weird alternate reality.

It was an easy choice…. Common sense vs extreme progressive

We're looking for some new GMs to join us over on the GM Games forum.

We have a new game that is taking sign-ups now, for anyone who wants to make the offseason go by a bit quicker.

Happy to discuss!

Behind you, look out
The universe can be so cruel.
Give you the perfect person to love, but they cannot love you back because someone else spoiled their purity for their own selfish pleasure.

Private NHL hockey wedding party tonight in town, Justin Beiber is here for it, and rumoured Reynolds as well. My daughter is supposed to be popping in.

Wonder who it is?
