He brought out the puck and made a zone entry... and now he just got an assist on a great point shot.
When I posted that it was right after the pk. He fired it into the zone and it rang all the way around and back into tje Leafs zone. Zero iq play

I know first pre-season game blah blah blah but what exactly does Klingberg bring to the table?

He would have been a good bet on a cheap deal if he was unsigned late in the summer. Don't understand how he was a $4m+ guy on July 1.

The fact Klingberg gets a low hard one-timer clapper on net makes me like him on the PP already. Love Reilly but his lack of a reliable point shot never made me love him on the top PP
The shot threat from the point is an important factor regardless of what people used to argue before about "distributing." You can still distribute the puck with a guy who can shoot from the point, but now defenses can't just collapse on Matthews and Marner and close the passing lanes so easily.

Puck moving ability, skating and a great shot.

Doesn't look particularly fleet of foot out there. I'll give you that the other two are situational and hard to evaluate in one game.

I see a guy who looks far less dynamic than Rielly.

We really must be watching a completely different player if you don't think his skating is smooth and agile. He isn't Cale Makar here but it's definitely above average. Made a few nice plays at both ends of the ice due to his skating.

People already hate Klingberg to the point where they've made up their made for some reason. It won't matter. Nothing about his game tonight suggests he was an issue... but people just want him to be one.
