Maybe the scouting staff has more to do with drafting guys like Cowan and Knies than Dubas did, but some will still say Dubas' drafting record was great

Why did our philosophy change so much when Dubas was put in charge?

He is obviously not out scouting, but what to scout for and discussion on picks, he is definitely involved in.

Anything positive leftover from Dubas' tenure is more than welcome. The guy traded virtually all the picks we had, he needed a few homeruns to even anything out.

Exactly, too bad he couldn't have left all the riches and picks like Lou left.

No comparison between Reaves and Simmonds, other than the color factor

Reaves is more mobile, not faster, but more mobile

We could have signed Schenn and Acciari for less than the price of one Klinberg. I get that the 1-year term gives us more flexibility with our core free agents, but those signings would have given us a better chance to win imo.

Klingberg looks pretty talented but not all that dialled in. I hope it’s more a case of early preseason and not lapses in concentration. Looks like things are rolling on him and his little short passes are all over the place. It’s early.

It's less to do with Klinberg than Schenn being such a good fit with Rielly. That was our best defensive unit in the playoffs.

I wasn't a big Lou guy that doesn't do much for me.

We have tons of guys who can be NHLers this year or will likely be NHLers in the next few years.

This is the first time we've had some prospects lined up and ready to go in some time.

Dubas didn't have that luxury.

I just don't like the Klingberg playstyle in the top-4. I'm sick of seeing these D who are too leaky in their own end playing in prominent spots on our D. All the positive stuff they do in the neutral and offensive zones are great and all but it cannot cancel out their horrible brainfarts that can put the team down 1-0 in the first couple minutes of the game.

Early judgements perhaps but this really does seem like the guy who was advertised from other team's fans when we signed him.

Well, at least #3 is consistent year to year at being someone we can yell at for defensive miscues.
