We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

The Leafiest thing to do would be to lose to Ottawa tonight, eventually face them in the first round and lose there too.
Just to level with you too I don't actually mind the Tampa matchup all that much. I've really liked how the team has figured out Vasi in the previous series they've played against him. But I really do think FLorida is on their way to winning the division unfortunately.
Coming off a loss to Florida, and losses in which they were clearly outclassed by Vegas and Colorado, blowing a 3 goal lead to Utah only to win in a SO, one would think this team needs to make a statement against a division foe who beat them 3-0 in Toronto and 2-1 in Ottawa.
It would definitely signal the end of this core. You can't come back from such an embarrassment after all their other playoff failures.
I just don't think there are "statement games" for any team in March. The Leafs winning this game shouldn't trigger some grand celebration.

I think that Jets game is actually a good example. Winnipeg won a bunch of games down the stretch last season, as well, and then what happened in the playoffs? There are too many variables in any individual game for a game today to have any predictive value for a game two months from today. For me, all tonight's game means is that they will be two points closer to the division lead because Florida will probably sleepwalk through its game against Montreal.
Big game no doubt but the reactions here to a loss will far outweigh the reaction should they win.
Sure anything can happen in the playoffs like Helley falling off a cliff but last night was still a statement game for the Jets. Just like the Leafs kicking the Sens and Brady's ass tonight or laying a beating on Florida in their next two meetings.
Wow last time I looked at the standings, Ottawa and Detroit were neck and neck in the standings.
Looked today and Ottawa is now closer to Tampa than Detroit, and Montreal passed Detroit too.

The Leafs have looks pretty bad most of the time even while winning since then..
Not sure what is worse, him losing the room already or him letting this shit happen after he was supposed to be a no nonsense coach
I'd like to think it hasn't devolved into the worst case scenario yet but it's not looking good so far.
I'm hoping for some "saved by hot goaltending" in the playoffs. You can win a few series based just on that even if it isn't sustainable. And I think that is the only way we're going anywhere this year.

I’m disappointed in the lack of adjustments being made in our roster. We just keep trotting out the same lines, and the recent decision to sit Robertson is this teams approach to young player development to a T.
Hopefully Robertson draws back in and continues to play well.
Our top 7 needs shuffling badly. Is Marner being used as a crutch for Matthews injury?

Ugh.. OTT plays the type of game that really neutralizes TOR (at least in games against TOR).
The Leafs still struggle against teams that limit time and space and make it a chore to generate scoring chances. That's how OTT has played against TOR recently.
Hope I'm wrong, but I foresee a low-scoring game and a 3-1, 3-2, 4-1 or 4-2 loss.
