Going to a Sens game is like going to a Junior B game in an NHL arena. No tailgating is the lamest thing. I guess it makes sense when I can't even have a few beers on the bus to the game without getting dirty looks from boomers.

That mentality is why our franchise sucks. We aren't fun, so let's continue being unfun because that's the expectation and we can get away with it.

I think the major problem with attendance right now is the fan base is not connected to each other, we’ve had a rebuild, fans/media have been at each others throats for 8 years, there hasn’t been a lot to cheer about so we focus on the negative, the arena experience sucks sorry but it’s true, attendance is bad so the Event won’t seem fun because you know the atmosphere could be flat , most casual fans aren’t even sure if the team is good or improving.

The fans needs to recconect and enjoy each other, and that’s not happening with more arena lights or a different play list/ anthem signer. We need major events to bring the fan tiegtwhr, see we are all good people and good fan and express ourselves together, and then we go inside with the good vibes and bring the vibes to the arena experience.

Of course it’ll never happen because it’s. good idea so Ottawa will block it like they made them out the arena in Kanata because they did t want people having fun close to other in the city.

But if the Sens want attendance to improve outside of event games, they need their fan to reconnect over something postive on a game to game basis that is part from player performance

Player performance can no longer be the metric for NHL attendance - it’s not patical in this economy, sports dollars are way to competitive and to be honest, sitting in an arena for 3 hours at a low event game is kinda painful and leaves you feel empty because your with 15000 other people at a bad game thinkingthere’s gotta be more to this then waiting for them to play Tom Petty, Sometimes I just want to grab a six pack and watch a game with some other fans and not have to spend $100.

Tailgate solves Ottawa attendance problem forever. Like your grandkids will be tailgating with a picture of you on their pickup truck in 60 years.

Fans are the legacy, once Andlauers realizes that, like he is a legacy hockey fan in the purest sense, his entire business model changes. If Andlauer is waiting around the the fans to come back based on points percentage, it’ll be tough. If he gives us something of our own to curate, it’ll be a zoo in the CTC every Saturday night

TUNA,

Spirit Airline filled for bankruptcy. The Trumpster got in because people are screaming bloody murder over inflation and cost of living.

Ottawa just approved 1) a hike in OCTranspo fees. We are now among the highest 2) new water meters to raise delivery charges 3) every scam in the book to suck money out

Add to it 7 years of a team in the toilette.

What do people expect?

AND.. THIS IS BEING MISSED. people working from home produces stagnation. When you are not interacting with others, you fail to get herd energy..group energy.. In cycling, it is called a Peleton.

And so people working from home, can become sluggish. And less prone to going out.

So a shit team, economic issues. People at home in PJs all day and are now expected to get up and head to a game! When they can stay in their PJs, watch it on a 40/60/80 inch monitor/TV, which they bought during COVID. All the while txting/instagram/facebook/tik-tok with friends.

NO one has a brain in his head. No one understood these things 20-25 years ago, when we started allowing some of these things to develop. And no one with the Sens understood; crappy play from 2007 onwards, will result in apathy.

Sutcliff understands this, It is why he is on his horse trying to get people back to working in offices. He is a marathoner, a triathlete. He understands training in groups, racing in teams and so on. He understands tat on a day when he feels sluggish and does not want to do that 10 K run, One or more buddies will pull him up.

It is why we got killed during COVID and kids were at home and not in school. AND all the issues we continue to feel the affects of.

Ottawa was hit hardest because of its nature. Other cities are way more tribal and way more driven by group/tribe energy.

I’ve attended numerous tailgating sessions, during playoffs, apparently you couldn’t make it those times. Not sure why you didn’t show up.

Tailgating is legal in Ontario now, before when I attended when it wasn’t, Police just preferred drink in a non alcoholic container, they didn’t care about the booze.

No one is tailgating in January. and the frigid months, up here, it makes no sense.

I’ve been to the playoff tailgate at the CTC, 12 years ago when Alfie was still playing. It was lame. I wouldn’t call that a tailgate, it was some people drinking at their trunks alone in small groups.

Lets organize a real planned event and party down, by the fans. like circle the wagons and make a big deal out of.

This is a regular season game, just for the fans to have fun. It’s not playoff energy, it’s not because there’s a celebrity - just “Hey Sens fans, you guys are crazy, let’s see what you got”

Then come out and show ‘em how it’s done, I’m expecting you there with no shirt on, a fake Paul Maclean mustache and a pickup truck filled with empty cans by game time
