Over the last 5 seasons, Ovechkin has 127 assists.

That puts him 69th in the league over that timeframe.

It's a nice pass but it doesn't change the fact that Ovechkin is nowhere close to being considered a top 10 playmaker in the NHL.

Last five seasons he's just a shotgun to Nick Backstrom playing as a pure shooter. With Backstrom injured his true talent is coming out he has 14 assists in 15 games as Laviolette changed the way he's deployed and now has assignment as playmaker. So those assist totals mean nothing as he was being deployed as pure shooter then.

He's top 10
This is elite

1 pass seals it for you?

I've seen RNH snipe where the goalie didnt even see the puck.

Is he a top 10 goalscorer now too?

Even if he was supposedly a top 10 playmaker, hes still a mile behind Draisaitl in that.

He's all world at scoring goals, but I dont think his playmaking skills are top of the league. Kinda like Matthews. I might be wrong tho as I rarely watch Boston games.
Yes. You are wrong . Kids got play making skills

Being an elite sniper and playmaker, but lacking defence is the most German thing in the world. Go figure it's Draisaitl in hockey.

The obvious are Ovie and Draisaitl )and Kane from older players), but I’ll mention Barkov too. He’s on good pace now.

Leads the league in plus minus. Oilers top penalty killer with one of the best pk's in the league.

Stop copying quotes from 2018.
It was supposed to be a joke, but I would hardly call someone with 8:43 of PK time out of 74:01 a top penalty killer. Also see we learned at the Ryan Graves School of Plus/Minus Defensive Prowess.

It’s very clearly Draisaitl. Others might be better at creating space to make plays (mainly through skating), but in terms of combined pure shooting and passing ability, he’s definitely at the top.

i’m a pens fan but it’s def leon. his backhand passes are unreal. i don’t watch the oilers that much but when I do tune in, he kinda reminds me of a bigger, slower Crosby in a way..

I need to revive this topic, because it is very interesting. Who are the top 5 sniper+playmaker currently? and the top 5 of all time?
Jagr has to be up there on the All-Time list. from age 20-34 he averaged 44 goals and 66 assists per 82 games.

When I think of sniper and excellent passer, MacKinnon immediately comes to mind.

Draisaitl and Rantanen both have deadly one timers and can dish it.
Panarin
Eichel
Makar
Crosby
Kucherov
Malkin, Stamkos and Kane a few years back.

Pasta for sniper, but misses on the playmaking.

Honestly a pretty short list to be elite at both. Even Jagr back in the day, his one timer was non exisitent. Similar to McDavid now.

Not enough McDavid in this thread. He scored 64 goals because he felt like it.
"Sniper" doesnt come to mind. Hes a dangler if anything. I can probaby count on one hand the amount of McDavid one timer goals I've seen. Same with Hymand and Reinhart. Tons of goals, not many "snipes".
