Mattias Karlsson was a legitimate NHL defense prospect with good offensive upside, not sure why we never gave him a chance.

Wasn't he the guy who just wanted to go back to Sweden, and it wasn't really the "not getting the chance" reason?

He was starting a family and wanted them to be in Sweden. Got a good contract in Sweden and left. Had nothing to do with opportunity.

His skating wasn't good enough for the NHL anyways so I wasn't a big loss.

Pretty sure opportunity had something to do with it. IIRC he went to Sweden because he didn't wanna stay in AHL any longer without getting a chance in the season prior to show his skills so he took the safer option.

He impressed me everytime i saw him play, his skating wasnt gret but decent. He also 2nd Bingo in points.

Ottawa never called him up at all during his great season and we were terrible on defense then too so it's not like it was out of the question. He didnt like how he was treated.

This is exactly how I remember the situation as well.

So Harpur reached his season career high in points (16) and goals (4) in just 14 games. Last season it took him 67 games.

Shane Prince with 3 points last night; now has 16 points in 17 games.

I'd like to see him called up if Ryan's injury is mid-to-long term. Oh wait. Someone told me he'd never make it to the big club. Nevermind. :sarcasm:

For guys who watch Bingo games, who do you think is the better player, Prince or Puempel?

To each their own, tbh. Puempel looks like the better possible threat in NHL cause his scoring instincts are invaluable and he is bigger than Prince. His style of play fits NHL.

With that being said, I come away thinking Prince is better player after many games I watch. His speed, puck handling and 2 way play are really good but he has inconsistency issues.

Prince needs to get bigger if he wants to stick in NHL.

Anyone know if Da Costa is still sens property? He's tearing it up in the KHL.

pretty sure he is. Doesnt the khl season end before the NHL season and hes on a one year co tract in the khl. So after his khl contract expires ottawa has a few months to negotiate if they want before he becomes a ufa.

I'm a big Da Costa guy, but why would anyone care about him being a 'rookie' at 25 in a league when he's played in two better leagues already?

Khl is better then AHL imo although theres a lot of differences. I think Kuneztov said nothing in the KHL taught him how to play in the NHL. Lots of different systems. I think it's impressive that a guy in his first year in a new country, new team and new rink size is managing to dominate and adapt so easily.

Why? Skilled guy. Give him more space. Take away a lot if the physical contact.. His success isn't that surprising to be honest.
