It’s wild that Brown, Zaitsev and Mete are all in the lineup. Even wilder that if one of them comes out, it’ll be Del Zotto going in. What a tire fire defense. Somehow worse than last year.

A big part of that is sacrificing a decent second pair of Zub+anyone in order to load up on Chabot-Zub. It’s the defense version of the Sens Pizza line offense days.

I told you that I like Holden but he’s still a 7th D on a good team. He was scratched for 4 games in the playoff. He’s played well so far on a team with 2 NHL D.
He wasn't a 7th d he played when there wasn't cap restrictions. He played well, I watched the games, was on record of it when the trade happened. Just like he is playing well now.

Not sure what to say that's what happened. And that's what's happening now.

I think Holden-Zaitsev would be a totally fine 3rd pair. HUGE difference between 2nd pair and 3rd, and they are both overmatched there.

You'd need at least a Zub-type player, if not better, to pair with one of them in order to have a passable 2nd pairing.

Says very little for the rest of our D corps.. because he is head and shoulders above the rest of them

I'd love to know what Holden should have done on those last 2 goals. He has been great this year. Best he looked was with Brannstrom. Maybe they'll actually try it.

Character building game.
They answered the first bell. Let's see if they can do it again.
(Hey, season high for goals with a period to go.)

Caps have less shots (24) but buried 6 of them. Sens have had a ton of chances to take the lead but you see the difference between a veteran lineup and a young inexperienced lineup in terms of finishing.

I'm not criticizing Holden at all, I like him a lot. But no chance is he anchoring a 2nd pairing.

Our right side D after Zub is a disgrace.

J. Brown and Zaitsev would struggle to keep up in the AHL. 3 NHL caliber D on this roster. Chabot, Zub, Holden. That's it.

Thank f***s Artem Zub chose to come here too. Just imagine how screwed we'd be without him.

Are we going to see any highlights from the second period on sportsnet? A bunch of commercials...
