The point is that they look bad, but they could easily have 2 or more points from these games this weekend with some different bounces. They're actually getting really good goaltending too, but that's something that doesn't exist to you.

If they would have gotten the two points, it wouldn't change the fact that they have sucked for weeks on end now. THAT is the point.

their #1 DMan is 21 years old and their other top DMan wasn't on the team last year. The goalie wasn't on the team last year.

it’s crazy that the lines have remained mostly static all season because they are just not scoring enough 5v5 to justify keeping it. especially late in games where nothing is going - which has happened way too many times for this group. try to find chemistry somewhere new or get your skilled guys going. putting hughes and bratt with nico isn’t a real solution to their scoring woes.

They are losing one-goal games. It's not meaningless gobbly-gook language, they lost on 3rd period goals scored in tied games. Even if a team plays poorly, there's no reason for that to keep repeating itself.

I have patience with this group because they are good. The thing you're doing is pretending like you haven't seen them be good, because that is what you do. What happened last season was injuries, bad goaltending, poor coaching, and the team still only finished 10th worst, because they actually are good when they are healthy, when they have good coaching, and when they have good goaltending, and we have seen that this season, how good they are. They have another level in them, and I am confident they will show that level if not after the 3 day break coming up, then after the 4 Nations tournament.

I think that’s 100% the case. And hopefully gets addressed at the deadline. That’s different than concern trolling about how the core can’t finish (?) or drawing some throughline between this team and some entirely different group with a different coach/goalie.

I don't think there's any particular reason why the Devils have been shut out 6 times and scored exactly 1 goal in a game 4 times (and 3 of those are in the last week).

Because they've had guys go on shooting benders for a week or two span for most of the year in Cotter, Nico, Noesen. As a collective group, they're not good finishers, which is why, they need to make a forward trade.

What a particularly funny response given the post of yours I was responding to had you crying about the “barely concealed erections” of “doomers”. Sounds like your feelings are a bit more wounded than you’re willing to let on - but I’ll allow you to delude yourself into thinking anyone calling out this team right now is doing it out of enjoyment or satisfaction since I assume you’re stooping there just to protect your emotional state.

Hopefully they show up three days from now and come out with a win. I’m certainly pulling for them. If they don’t, I just hope you have the self-respect not to insult everyone’s intelligence saying they’re just “gassed” again.

why are you so obsessed with past seasons? Past seasons have NOTHING TO DO with 2024-25. Nothing. Different coach, different goalies, different defense, etc. The things are not the same! Stop obsessing over it.

What kind of logic is this? If them allowing under 20 shots for 3 straight weeks is consistent, then what the hell is this shit show we are seeing which has ALSO lasted 3 weeks?

Outside of those two extremes, the team has looked average, particularly 5v5, has not been able to string more than 3 consecutive wins together, has been shutout numerous times, etc. This is pretty much the definition of inconsistent.
