Bobby's right, and with Pinto/Joseph coming back that changes the bottom six dynamic for the better.

There's still fundamental flaws in our core. 1) Our defense is too soft, 2) Some of our players lack tenacity (Chabot, Norris), 3) We lack two-way forwards. We need that Mike Fisher type forward that can shadow and shutdown elite talent.

Comments from the Oilers radio broadcast:

- The Sens defence is bad, constantly playing in their own zone.
- Lacking size within the D-core.
- Absolutely no physical play
- Cannot maintain pressure in the offensive zone.
- The Sens are "the biggest disappointment" in the NHL this year.
Nothing is wrong there

I am from Montreal, I cannot believe how much better the Habs are playing than the Senators. It’s unbelievable and so disappointing.

I didnt even watch last night’s game, my first time in all my years being a fan. I dont know what to say anymore, actually makes me angry watching them play.

No phyiscal play whatsoever on defense, the forward’s outside of Brady are all built the same, very few physical play, cycle or battles won along the boards. Most cheat out the zone and dont support.

I absolutely dislike Norris and his contract particularly. I understand he has been hurt, but so has Pinto and he looked better. Norris aside from shooting, brings nothing..easier said than done but Id move him and Chabot

Oh well, guess it is what it is, I really thought this was the year back in the playoffs

Forsberg's season in a nutshell. All his good play is undone by letting in a backbreaker when the game is still absolutely within reach at 1-0.

Bottom 6 is not good enough but is far far from the biggest problem when you allow 46 shots, are 40% on the FO , 0/3 on the PP and score 1 goal lol

The country club boys in full effect again last night

Don't worry he will, probably on another team though

It's another warning I have made, don't evaluate players based on how they look right now, this is an HEAVY discombobulated team.

Depends on what Staios decides to do. I would normally hope not, but this "rebuild" has dragged on way too long. Based on my posts for 4 seasons ago, I was worried that it does and it did. Some players need a reset for their own good and the team needs a shakeup too. It's like they are in preseason right now.
What a Croc of shit. Pre season. Your mentioning Chabot with a bunch of names where he doesn't belong.

You are what your record says you are and our record says we're not very good. The NHL wanted parity. The NHL got parity. As a result, some nights we beat teams like the Rangers or the Leafs. But over a season, we are what that W/L says we are and right now it says we're not good..

Glad I watched the Texans vs Colts last night…. Both teams could have won the game….. even I could have caught that pass on fourth down and goal.

I don't think we should have played in Sweden. This happened to us last time we played in Sweden. It's too much jet lag and planning and so much more. However, I also could see that our wins in Sweden weren't great wins.
Toronto is 10-6-4
Detroit is 11-10-1
Minnesota 12-9

Any one of those records would have us still in the playoff picture

I don't think it's Sweden that did it.

I don't see how you can look at Chabot and say he'd be the type of player you'd want in the race fighting for a playoffs spot let alone playing in them.

His decision making is an actual detriment many times throughout the game. I get he logs a lot of minutes and the more minutes you get the more mistakes you will probably make but his mistakes are glaring.

He's a smooth skater and can skate the puck up the ice but other than that his shot isn't a threat, his passes are slow, his defending is not good and his compete leaves a lot to be desired.

He's one of the biggest frauds on this team

Everyone saying how better defensively they look but we still allowed nearly 50 shots lol.

At least expectations are low now.
They played a pretty good road game against an elite offensive team. From a defensive perspective they protected the house better than I can remember. Not many 2nd and 3rd opportunities. The sens had chances they weren't opportunistic. I thought Stutzle was noticeable. He doesn't have his swagger though, he double clutched on a great pass from batherson that would have been in the net last year.

Overall I liked the teams play. It's coming, the more they get used to these systems and their jobs. The more it will be reactionary, the easier it will be. Once it starts coming naturally I think we will see better results.

We were not good defensively. Forsberg just played really well. You guys need to stop the delusion please

Chabot is 17th in PPG among D-men since his 21 y/o sophomore season, which includes some future all time greats like Hedman, Karlsson, Letang, Burns, Makar, Hughes, DAhlin, McAvoy and Fox. Being close to these elite D-men is certainly a good look.
But he gets minutes like very few, very easy minutes at that. And he does not play at a defensive level of the others.

Over the last 5 years he is 47th in P/60 among D men. Even strength he is 67th. Last 4 seasons he has only 20% more P/60 even strength than Cody Ceci let that sink in. Thats simply not nearly good enough for what he is paid and the minutes he gets.

I don’t disagree, but that shot needs to be blocked in that situation. He provided the perfect screen when he failed.

The team in general isn’t good at blocking shots as pointed out by York in the last podcast.
The goal was credited to Hyman on a deflection.
