I’ll comment where I think it needs it , like always.
Especially about ones chewing gum in a for sale thread , that provides nothing. Put in the appropriate thread like the lounge. Feel sorry for the lounge posters then.
Same here I will post where I like. I feel sorry for you, not the other posters. Some people are not build to understand the satire, I guess.

A matter of weeks or an agreement in principle, not actually change of ownership.

This also summarizes it
For sure, but it's moving along and it's just a matter of time now. With the season appearing to be lost now, it is something exciting to look forward to for Sens fans.

Can’t happen fast enough. I am curios how fast can they build the new arena, though. I am sick and tired of Kanata

Yes, that'll be the next hill to climb. It'll happen eventually, but maybe not as quickly as we like. Nobody would be crazy enough to pay a billion dollars to keep it out in Kanata long term, that much is for sure.

What’s the average time needed in this situation, what do you think? Say all the permits are done and ready and they bring the workers. 4 years, until the puck drop? Just curious.

I have no idea about averages or how supply chain issues would change things, but per Wikipedia, Edmonton's arena deal was approved by the city in January 2013, was confirmed to be going ahead in February 2014, construction started in March 2014, and the arena opened in September 2016.

Probably a year plus to clean the ground, but at least can start drafting plans and approvals and permit process
4-5 years from now, likely 5.

I think precedents of other rinks are your best bet, and really, Canadian ones at that, so the Edmonton example provided seems the best comparable. As Golden_Jet pointed out, there is the contaminated site cleanup needed that may add time as well.

Usually there's an environmental impact study (EIS) done as well before anything else pretty much. Typically, there's a preliminary one done ({PEIS) and then a final (FEIS). Not sure, but maybe the NCC has already done this. I say this because the need for soil remediation is usually an output from an environmental impact study.

I wonder what HF will look like with new owners and management. Will there be a role reversal in peoples opinions? Or will it continue the same? This is going to be facinating. Lol.

I’m beginning to question if Lebreton is the best location. Very little access by car, an LRT system which doesn’t function well during the winter and also doesn’t service Kanata/Sittsville or Barrhaven. Is there a location with Highway and LRT access which offers development opportunities?

So Gary said the new owner will get to make the decision if the Senators stay in Kanata, or move downtown.
Also says a lot of reporting rumours aren’t t accurate.

Why is that interesting.

That scares the crap out of me. Why the hell would they stay in Kanata?

Probably cheaper to renovate CTC than build a brand new 18 000 building downtown.

I suspect the real answer will answer will depend on how much various levels of governments are willing to help pay for the downtown arena.

I have soured on Lebreton following LRT’s issues. I’m not putting up with that and will get parking when I get tickets. I don’t like being forced from my car when there is no viable transportation options

So Reynolds gets upwards of $100 million for his stake in Mint Mobile , made over $50 million from acting in 2022 a will probably make another $50 million in 2024 when Deadpool 3 comes out. If he comes in as a part owner he will be more than a figurehead if he antes up $100 million of his own cash.
Upwards of 300 million from mint mobile, owned 20-25%,
over 100 million from the Gin.

That's another interpretation. Hard to say as there wasn't a lot of details. So, who knows I guess.

At least there's lots of interest, multiple bids and the process is moving along.
I don’t recall other teams getting multiple bids, all the time, unless I misremember.

How much Kanata land comes with the team? Melnyk campaigned to get a casino license and to build a soccer pitch around the Palladium, so he must own more than just the parking lot. The field just south of the arena?

LRT will eventually reach Kanata and Barrhaven. If I'm not mistaken there's plans for a Stage 3 station at the CTC. Hopefully under a new mayor the issues with LRT can eventually resolved.

But the best option for a central location with space, highway access and an LRT station is Hurdman as long as there's no physical issues with developing on that land.

Assen na yo!

I think if new owner can have more land to build tower at Lebreton. A new arena would be built here.

If the new owner renove and build hotel , restorant , tower , bar , help for traffic and the city do something to help the traffic on the queensway. I would have no problem that they stay to Kanata

The dream would be Gatineau baby LFG

Ya if the NCC doesn’t offer up more than 6-7 acre plot of land , to build more than a rink, then Kanata or another location has a good chance.

Stage 3 is unfunded and “planned” 2031. As for resolving issues on Line 1, unless they re-lay the track around Lees and replace all the trains there is no realistic fix. Line 2 should be fine.

pretty much what people said after Rod Bryden became a former owner of the Senators.
And it was before the man went sour. Hopefully this one can set up more sustainable revenue with better minds behind the decision making and it won't have to end up there again. Plenty examples elsewhere to bank on and his tenure isn't the rule, it's the exception.
