It would be good for this franchise to have Reynolds as part owner, it would create a buzz around the franchise, and I'm sure it would appeal to the younger crowd, I think it would be a win-win situation for everybody.

They already have nice, downtown arenas maybe?

hate to do the work for you but Nashville’s arena is owned by Davidson county - not the NHL owners. The owners are tenants, not owners who own their areans like in Ottawa. Could look at the Pitt situation for you but once you know how american arenas are built with taxpayer money - I mean, enough said

Give me an owner with very deep pockets such as one of the Thomson clan (David, Peter, Taylor or Sherry). I see little value in celebrities who are simply PR people.
The Winnipeg Jets beat you to that family.

If you're looking for the wealthiest and most powerful Canadian option, it's the Desmarais family for the Sens.

Belittling their character??? What are you talking about lol? My favourite part is when you go on to say the bolded which is exactly the same thing I'm saying. Contemplating is not the same as making an offer or being a serious bidder. If someone told you they were contemplating your dinner invite, you wouldn't run and put it in your calendar lol. Can't believe you actually believe there's going to be 20+ actual, real money offers for the team. What a world you're living in.
You called a number of the rumoured parties "looky loos." I said "seriously contemplating." There's a big gap between those two things despite you trying to lump me with your aspersions on those parties.

It's unlikely that any of them are wasting their own time and that of others by not being serious about their interest in purchasing the team. Calling them "looky loos" is ignorant. This isn't a used Mustang listed on kijiji, its a pro sports franchise.

Anyhow, enough brain cells on this.

The one opportunity for the franchise to appear "cool" or "trendy" with Reynolds and we have people wanting to say no? I don't get that one bit. This franchise has been lame as hell for way too long.
Too many hockey fans equate things that are cool/trendy with somehow sullying the sport - like the hipsters of sports fans.

"Yeah, I'm a fan of a sports team - you've probably never heard of it though."

Why “deep pockets”?

With or without the Lebreton agreement the team is worth 750-900M. The franchise value growth potential of the league is what is most attractive. Lebreton brings additional players to the table for the real estate play.

A new owner could reasonable expect franchise value to at least double in 10 years.

With Dorion and DJ Smith applying their big BBQ brains to this thing, I think the new owners should expect franchise value to quintuple in 10 Years.

Nothing sells tickets like Pierre Dorion Hockey

I think the circumstances are different enough that the same type of groundswell of support won't manifest in Ottawa like it did for Wrexham. The leagues and situations are fundamentally different, with only the thinnest of common threads between them. Plus, soccer has a much much wider audience base than hockey does so there's a far broader coalition of fans to pull into the gravy train of merch, tourism revenue, etc.
Wrexham plays in the 5th tier, of soccer, the lowest tier in England, I don’t think it was the draw you think it is.

I watched it. Nice show. And when the show stops, cameras stopped rolling, and they use that little team for "content" then what? Do they pump and dump it at a huge profit? They don't strike me as having the attention span to own that team long term.

I know everyone's hearts are aflutter , just enjoy that aspect and who knows, maybe they prove me wrong.
You can’t flip a team, owning 5-10% lol.

No there won’t be 20 offers, some will drop out after looking at books, some for other reasons. Could be 5 or 6 legit offers I think.

In fairness, I don't think you could create the same type of show about the Senators as Wrexham FC.

The players on Wrexham are regular people trying to live out a dream, getting by on $30-60k per year. If they lose their spot on the team, they have to go become a painter or work in a warehouse. There's a level of relatability there, and it's easy to cheer for them and get emotionally invested in the underdog story.

The players in Ottawa are 20-year-old multi-millionaires who, even if they lose every game, can go off and spend their summers jetting from private villa to private villa on the Mediterranean. Our "relatable" captain comes from the 1% of the 1% and has lived a life filled with private schools and jets.

It wouldn't be the same...

Soccer has broad global appeal. Hockey does not. It's a pretty simple equation and I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.
Lol, 5th tier, sure go ahead and think that lmao. Have you ever been to England, I have 5 times, 5th tier isn’t what you think, oh boy that’s a winner take right there.
Global soccer fans don’t tune into 5th tier , there are so many numerous other levels for countries to watch, and in their own country.

Soccer is a bigger game than hockey. If you were going to make a show about a soccer team and a show about a hockey team, which do you think would have the larger pool of potential viewers?

I think David owns a part of the Jets. The other 3 may not. :)

It’s Football…. The game is played 99% with your feet.

American/Canadian “football” is played 99% with your hands.
