Do we know or have any of the groups discussed which ones would like a downtown arena?

I think ideally they all would. The price of the team would be nowhere near as high as it is without a way forward to downtown real estate opportunities

Lame at the end of the day. No Reynolds and no super deep pockets.

Yup as much as I would be disappointed if true. It should be a ok group.

Andlauer 80%
Melnyks 10%
Local Ownership 10%

Maybe Reynolds gets 20% if they work something out..

Andlauer publicly traded company is worth 2billion cad don’t know how much of it Andlauer actually owns and he should get around 300m for selling 20% of the habs.

My main concern is will this guy be able to consistently spend to a salary cap and go higher in the years we are looking really strong?

When the roster is rebuilding is he willing to buy draft picks from other teams by taking shit contracts ?

Can he do everything he can to convince players to play here (signing bonuses?)

I know Count Dracula will reply say don’t expect a sugar daddy , but why not? There are other small market teams who have ownership that loves spending look at Florida and Buffalo

Why?

Do you assume an owner with "deep pockets" is going to sugar daddy the franchise?

Anyone, with "deep pockets" became that way, by turning a profit on their investments, not by throwing money at something for the fun of it. Sure there may be a short term influx of cash on the operating budget, but with every other business, there will be a budget to fit the market place, based on ROI.

Do not expect a new owner, with "deep pockets" to come into this small Canadian market, with everything that makes it NOT like toronto or Montreal, and expect to be on par with those markets, it's not going to happen.

I want someone with the money to be able to afford ot run the team properly, and not to cut corners and skimp any way possible. Someone who won't panic if the Sens miss the playoffs and "lose money" for a few seasons. Someone who doesn't automatically hire the cheapest NHL head coach and cheapest GM he can find.

I don't want Eugene Jr.

If the fans pack the building, then we have every right to demand that. If attendance is 70% of capacity, not so much.

Cool, Andlauer seems like a great guy

It will be interesting to see what he does with management and coaching

Still holding out hope he can bring in Reynolds

This is probably really early, but I'd love to know why Steve Whatshisname isn't the lead guy. He has big money and can buy the team himself in cash (apparently, considering his bid of an NFL team). Dude worked with the NHL before and brought in investors. Wouldn't the NHL want a really heavy hitter in Ottawa to stabilize things?

Pretty sure fans hit that mark and beyond this past season.

There’s some fans on these boards that love their cheap owners. Pay them no mind lol .

Even the Andlauer was my last preference if he has the Malhotras of Claridge + Local investors the group should still be able to hold its own. Not gonna lie it’s going to suck not having Steve Apolostopolous wallet but what can you do ?

Well we still don't know who the owner is, regardless of these tweets. Maybe Andlauer actually had a higher bid than Steve Apostolopoulos.

He would not have been buying it cash but yes he's the richest by far. Basically unlimited money.

My guess is that he didn't have the profile. May not have been the highest bid either. He's not super passionate about hockey or the Sens he just wants to own a toy.
