Trading Cat right after he signs an extension is bad for business.
You don't have to trade him immediately, you just need to trade him before the NTC kickes in.

Players get it's a business, they do things that are in their best interest all the time. This is a worst case scenario where new owners don't want anything to do with after we sign him

The overall point is that signing him now doesn't prevent a new ownership group from enacting their vision, regardless of whether or not their vision includes DeBrincat.

Maybe but I also doubt anyone is going to buy an asset for a billion dollars and choose to keep Dorion as it's head.

That's insane.

And if you're going to buy something for a billion dollars aren't you going to come in having done some due diligence and a shortlist of guys you're looking at to run the place?
Looks like there’s a lineup of guys who are interested in the Calgary GM job and probably more for the Leafs GM job. If you are correct, then there’s a guy out there sitting on his hands and not looking for a job because a group that he has aligned himself with has a 25% chance at owning the team. Who would do this?

Melnyk struggled to cover the Senators’ operating expenses because he didn’t have other revenue streams. That’s why a new rink in Ottawa will have to rely on money from surrounding development, unless the new owner simply doesn’t care about incurring losses. While there is an ego component to owning a pro sports team, one doesn’t become a billionaire by losing money.

Governments around the world are nudging us towards a form of centralized goverment controlled digital currency……. And that is NOT a good thing for anyone, except those in power, who will be able to control the issuing and use of a digital currency.
Ok, so you are an anarchist. I like most thinking people am not. Just about the only thing crypto does is allow you to avoid taxes, evade sanctions, and move money around for illegal purposes.

Tell me the ethical thing that the central Bank of Canada prevents you from doing with its fiat currency?

Yeah. With traded stock you would have a value in the moment in time when it became taxable (Eugene's death). With the team is much harder. Expert valuation last year said that the team was worth 500 mil? Now it's being sold for upwards of a billion.

Maybe CRA has a rule of thumb for these situations, otherwise it could be a very interesting court case.

There is a very big difference from using block chain technology for fiat currency backed by central banks with deposit insurance & random crypto currencies backed by no-one.

Block chain is cool. Crypto Currencies and NFTs are pyramid schemes at worst and gambling at best.
This is simply not true. Clearly you don't understand crypto and NFTs. Yes there is a lot of dirty stuff in that space but to label the entire field of crypto and NFTs as pyramid schemes and just gambling is unfair and not true.

only one person will get the calgary job, only one person will get the leafs job.

it will be one of the most lucrative jobs in hockey and it is a free market. a lot of very competent people will soon be contacting or will be contacted for Pierre's job.

I am referencing a government issued Digital currency that will replace paper/coin currency

I'm thinking you don't understand what fiat currency is... would it help if we just replaced "fiat" with "government issued Digital currency" so you can answer his question? Because in this case, the digital currency would be a fiat currency that just happens to be digital instead of physical.
