Not unexpected, though the sisters might stay as minority owners, but it is not surprising that 2 young people in their early 20s, one still in school, are not interested in running an NHL team. Especially one that is not usually very profitable and has a lot of issues to resolve like a new arena etc.

Ryan Reynolds could maybe afford 5-10% of the ownership if he liquidated all of his assets, and even then, why would any serious ownership group want him involved?
Exactly. He can't afford to buy much of the Sens at all. Now...if he has a few friends that want to shelter some money, then that's different, but it still wouldn't add up to a majority.

It could be as high as humanly possible and the Sens still wouldn't be moved from Ottawa.

I never said they'd be moved.
That guy that does the business reporting for ESPN said there is lots of American buyers who like the demand of hockey in canada, and want a pro sports team and the entry level fee.

For sure, there'll be huge interest in this team. It'll hit close to a billion for the sale (is my guess).

My guess is 800-900 mil, but you never know.

Very hard for billionaire to invest in an asset that has the potential for 10-20% returns over the next few decades with little to no risk because of cap. There is a reason why private equity firms have been heavily investing in sports in recent years.

People are only looking at this like it's just Ottawa. Sure, with Lebreton there is more money to be made in the city, but it's also because of the overall growth of the NHL. You are buy Ottawa to ride the overall growth as much as for the opportunity to improve local revenues.

He can probably be the face of an ownership group and own a small piece.

Believe his net worth is in the $150 million range; not sure how much of that is liquid.

They aren't relocating but that's a great PR move if his group ends up buying. The recent mayoral election might have saved the team though. Its no surprise that its been announced that the team was for sale after it was confirmed.

That other article said he could be attached to Thomas Tull who owns part of the Pittsburgh steelers

He spends a lot of time in Canada at his home on the west coast where reynolds is from and they’ve produced a few movies together.

I think those estimates usually underrate celebrities with significant business interests. I’ve seen some in podcasts say they can be way off. Though still probably doubtful he could buy a majority stake

I think they would have been safer with the OttaWall, especially with likely no taxes after Ottawa's secession.

Current estimate but he could become a lot wealthier in the next few years.

His 20% stake in Aviation Gin could net him $122M in the sale of the company so many he is looking to invest that as the sale of Aviation goes forward.
