I'm not a referee nor is my wife but her Dad used to be way back in the day, and she said he definitely wouldn't ever let shit like that go, ever! I'm going to take her word for it.How about the blatant trip in the offensive zone corner with about 4 left?
But apparently he'll challenge a goal in the playoffs that has no chance of getting overturned?!?!It absolutely blows my mind that we didn't challenge. Absolutely indefensible.
So much true here. Thank you. Seems like you can’t watch a game now without calls being missed or made up.I'm not a referee nor is my wife but her Dad used to be way back in the day, and she said he definitely wouldn't ever let shit like that go, ever! I'm going to take her word for it.
It's not often we can honestly say that the referees cost the Leafs the win, but they did. Non calls, ghost calls, and that first goal that was "directed in by a deliberate kicking motion." I'm very disappointed all around by that display of incompetence by the stripes. Seeing as they're professionals I can only assume that their performance was mandated by the league in the never ending quest for competitive balance, that renders sportsmanship and skill useless.
Valid points for sure in general termsLeafs fans really love their scapegoats, huh?
Pierre Engvall is a 1.2 M player. He's replacement level. I feel like some of you guys don't understand that his inconsistencies are to be expected. Unfortunately, these are the kinds of players that Leafs can afford nowadays.
you know the funny thing, on the second night of a back to back the oldest player on the roster was our best player. the excuse about fine tuned athletes in their mid 20s being "tired" in b2bs has always been a big copout for me.

I think that is fair for sure but I mean, 82 games is a lot of games. Sure, they're played at lower intensity and pressure than playoffs, but it's so great to see the team bond and form an identity annually. You see that in 82 games which gives you hope for the playoff season.this team is making the playoffs.
my point was exactly the point I made in the off-season.
If they came back with the same core, everything they achieve would be met with “yeah but wait for the playoffs”
presidents trophy... yeah but wait for the playoffs.
Wins? Losses? Who cares. Wait for the playoffs.
We had a lot of folks with similar thinking a few months ago. I posted the same last night and was uninvited to the thread.
Oh well. It’s as true tonight as it was last night as it was on locker clean out day.
nothing they do can impress. Nothing they do can be more disappointing.
playoffs is when we should care.
Did he ref with Red Storey ?I'm not a referee nor is my wife but her Dad used to be way back in the day, and she said he definitely wouldn't ever let shit like that go, ever! I'm going to take her word for it.

Seriously keefe wtf dude...
Marner is clearly trying too hard to score when it's not his strength.
you know the funny thing is, on the second night of a back to back the oldest player on the roster was our best player. the excuse about fine tuned athletes in their mid 20s being "tired" in b2bs has always been a big copout for me.
Agreed. No matter what he does Marner will never be worth that ridiculous contract
lol ive decided to just turn off the game when we arent playing well, after the last playoff collapse ive kindof got a different outlook with these guys. regular season im just watching now for good hockey if i dont see it i will watch something elsethe oldest player always seems to be the one that gives a damn.
I know it’s only two games but this team doesn’t deserve any excuses. If people want to be negative and worry they have the right too. What have the leafs done to make us think either wise?
Marner no need to worry
Well to be fair there's no need for a cup if there are no balls.....just sayinValid points for sure in general terms
But …….
Sorry the excuses are over , that comment is bronze aged in his defence .
It’s not about him , it’s about players of his ilk that play like him , no balls , no heart , no cup !
I bet you we could find 3 players on our 4th line that are under 1 mil to play every shift like it’s their last and also hit at every turn , forecheck like nobody’s business and put a wee bit of fear in the opponent
to me its about compete level, i saw marner standing behind the net with 20 seconds left not even fighting for a puck 5 feet away. not acceptable imo.To be fair, Spezza only played 24-25 minutes total against weaker competition.
The young stars have to play twice as much over two games against the opposition's best. This does add up.
Spezza's linemates should be embarrassed though.
