Tell me more about Amadio Simmonds and Kerfoot

You are telling me there no AHL player who are more hungrier than these guys?
As an outside perspective that watches alot of leafs games this post nails it to me.
It's one thing to have Matthews out but what's up with the dumb roster decisions?

Kerfoot has been average at best for years and you all lost mccann for him, amadio who, and simmonds should've retired 2 years ago..
Also spezza is so good why's he playing with plugs.
Additionally y'all are going to hate Ritchie on the top line real fast, hes no hyman and bunting is better in pretty much every way
Marner in the shooters spot on the pp makes no sense, and he seems to.miss the net by 4 feet every time.

JT should've been the best center by a fair margin in both of the last 2 games and its gotta be concerning he's barely noticeable.

Atleast its better than the tire fire in mtl right!?

I wouldn’t say JT has been unnoticeable… He works hard every shift he’s out there, it’s surprising he gets a lot of heat. IMO it’s Marner who drags him down, I haven’t been impressed with Marner whatsoever especially with a 10.9 million dollar contract… He's playing more of a 6 million dollar player. Hopefully we can get Matthews back in the lineup soon.

If you watch a lot of Leaf games you're no longer doing it from an outside perspective.

You're a Leafs fan.

Team is looking a tad bit slow.

I'm not sure Ritchie can keep up.
Holl and Muzzin look sluggish and are struggling a bit. Might be a bit early to worry about them but it hasn't been good.
Don't think JT and Marner have been great to start.

Sandin looks great.
Nylander seems to be on another level.
Spezza continues to turn back the clock
Bunting brings a ton of energy

Wouldn't mind seeing Liljegren get into a game here.

I'm guessing that the underlying stats were really good, so people who think those numbers are more important then actual results can brag about how good we are. Those people who care more about wins and losses on the other hand, well they are obviously not happy that we came out flat (again) and didn't score until it was too little too late. So I guess we can say the Leafs are already in playoff form, I remember a time when we could say that's a good thing. ;)

This team is a homogenous group of cold porridge. Every bit is the same. They all play the same way.

Here's an idea, Sheldon. How about: hitters hit, scorers score, D-man plays hard in own end, fighters fight, waterbugs attack with speed, muckers muck, the power play looks like one, and the captain kicks ass of own team when needed.

And if any one of these players is not doing what their specialty or M.O. is for the full 60 effing minutes, get him to the pressbox and yell "Next!".

I agree on Simmonds not being at all effective. Hopefully he can improve in the next 4-5 games otherwise I can see him being waived for either Ho Sang, Anderson or Robertson.

It's the 2nd game of the season. They get a pass anyway.

Here's some issues from last night.

OTT's speed overwhelmed them and created turnovers. The turnovers created those fluke chances.

The PP at times seemed to be pretty bad. Confused zone entries. No puck recovery. No Hustle either.

Mrazek looked like he expends far too much energy to make a save. His rebound control was suspect. I saw a few moments where his kick saves could have been an easy tap in goal for OTT. He's no Campbell, but I think he can improve.

Toronto needs to learn from this.

Go Leafs Go

While I understand there are a ‘few’ over reactions, it’s important to remember for many leaf fans this isn’t game 2 of a new season, this is Season X of yet another potential failure and so it’s really hard to fault leaf fans for that natural negativity. To me it’s more the exact opposite that confuses me, to me that’s ‘toxic’ positivity when no matter what the result is, we keep claiming things are good and the advanced stats suggests we were just unlucky. It is not luck that some teams are perineal winners. It’s time for the team to perform and have results that show.
It's not, I realize and recognize that things may not be good but I would rather stay positive but realistic and not be negative. I don't like being a negative person, being negative is quite toxic in my opinion.

Tavares and Marner look absolutely useless out there through 2 games.

I really question whether Mitch can play in this market anymore. He may be too mentally fragile.

As for Tavares, I question whether he can even play at all with his cement boots on. I mean he was always slow but now his hands and IQ have entered his foot speed territory.

A lot of overreaction here. I thought we played pretty decent for a back to back against a team that was playing rested in front of their home fans for first time in 2 years.

They had a lot of puck luck and bounces the first period and then we took over the game. Hockey is an unpredictable game and you cant control the bounces and the refs.

What we could control was our effort and creating chances. When was the last time we had 48 shots in a game and lost? Amazing performance by Forsberg.
Here we go. Taking "the good" from losses again. Sorry, but this perspective wears thin after about, I dunno, more than 5 decades of not even making a Stanley Cup final?

It's just that the hard realities of this team are so bad that pointing them out looks negative, when it's simply us stating facts.

Start of a new season, second game on a back to back… Everyone needs to relax a little. Let’s see how the boys respond on Saturday against the same team before we start to worry.

I’m an eternal optimist but even I have a difficult time staying optimistic about the leafs. At this point a realistic and not negative view is they are likely to fail like they do every year, BUT we hope they can figure this out and we will cheer them on to do so

I’ll be honest, I’ve been found both the win and loss meaningless. Maybe I’m just a weenie, but until I see something in the playoffs it’s hard for me to care about what this team does in the regular season.

Bunting Spezza Nylander , thank u very much the Keef. Let good workers be rewarded now in the beginning of the season. I could switch Marner and Nylander but i dont know if that would be a punishment playing with Tavares and Rdude.

This coming from a guy who picked Matt Frattin over Kadri lol
What who says we are making it to the playoffs to start with

Again... my point isn’t one of optimism.

It is one of indifference.

I don’t care what they do in the regular season. I said the same thing at locker clean out time. They could win the presidents trophy, Rielly could win the Norris... meh.

wait till the playoffs. That’s when I will care and that’s when it matters.

I assume they will make it.

but if they don’t, meh. Just another failure of this core. No worse or no better than their failures to date.

I didn’t get exited about the win on Wednesday. Meh. Wait for the playoffs.

and I don’t care about this loss either. Meh. They have failed before. Wait for the playoffs.

Does that help?
