My opinion about the team has nothing to do with Jantelagen. I just didn't believe the team would be any good this year. I'm glad they've proved me wrong.

Well its all the same every year with us swedes... damn we should be able to take GOLD in every tournament and if we don't get it its a disapointment ofc i know Sweden can't win every tournament but to not have that expections on our team is lack of trust in our team...

Thanks for the link about the Law of Jante and Scandinavian mentality - I never knew that such things were part of the mentality of Scandinavians! I actually always thought that Scandinavians could be very individualistic. So I guess no one likes Edvard Grieg in Norway? :D

Depth-wise, this swedish team have no buisness in the final four and its the worst team assembled in a while, largely do to the bad 95ers.

Im not a believer in The Nylander either

Exactly, we are doing largely better than expected. I believe we will hardly get the bronze medal. Russia is going to kick our ass tonight. Even if we do win, we should stand aside and just let Russia play Canada in the finals because that will be a better game.

4-1 Russia.

1. Canada
2. Russia
3. Not worth mentioning, throw it away.

I said before the tournament- that the final will be a rematch between the two countries that played in the 2014 Sochi games (still cannot believe that was 11 months ago, as it seems it was yesterday).

Anyways- i think Sweden beats Russia, but i am now hoping the Russians can pull off the win, so we can have a great Canada- Russia Gold Medal Game. However- i do believe it will be Canada vs. Sweden both winning on Sunday like i originally predicted, with the result the same as Sochi, with Canada winning Gold.

11 months, wow. You're right, it does seem like it was just yesterday.

I guess it depends on which team you're a fan of. For Russian (hockey) fans, Sochi feels like years ago :D. Hopefully we'll do better in the next olympics.

I hope and think that it will be Swe-Can in the final.

Kind of boring that Canada gets the easy way to the final, would have been nice for them to at least play one more top 5 team before the final.

Appeared like the strongest entry on paper in years, certainly better than the 09 Ottawa team.

Reinhart lines one of the best lines I've seen in this tournament. Memory may be blurry though

I dunno, we had JT, Eberle, PK Subban, Ellis, Kane, that Vancouver draft pick, that hurt his back & got traded to Buffalo ( can't think of his name ). Even that Esposito kid , helluva skater, and scored a couple of Big Goals too; thereafter he suffered a couple of nasty knee injuries.

TC beat two top teams in their Pool, pretty handily...Not our Boyz fault Russia performed so poorly in round robin, or that Czechs laid an egg in QF's

Nobody is saying it is. It's still a boring matchup, just like the poster said.

Lol, are you really a Swede. Where is the support and faith for your own team???

And people say I'm bad???? Lol!!!

And I think the so called Canada-Russia rivality is the most overrated in the sports. I never got the hype around it!

:help::shakehead

Tut Tut...probably too young to remember 72...had u pegged at 12, 13 maybe. :naughty:

PS: U probably don't know bout Piestany either :D

What have 72 with this to do???

Do people live in old times or what??

What are you talking about?? You said Canada-Russia was the most overrated..well no it's not. It started in '72. And over the years whether it be WJHC or Olympics it's been a tremendous rivalry. Hard fought emotional games. 1988 WJHC in Piestany!!! buddy do some research. Big brawl that ended up both countries being disqualified. Give your head a shake. Saying Canada-Russia is the most overrated rivalry is just being ignorant, you obviously are too young to know the history of this rivalry.

Canada-US has grown into a big rivalry due to recent Olympics and WJHC and especially with the NYE game. But Canada-Russia was built from '72. Go and watch some of that footage, I hate to use the term but it was like "war" on the ice.

Another example 1999 WJHC in Winnipeg one of the best goalie battles ever. 2-2 after 3 periods in the gold medal game, Luongo stopped 38 shots and Russia wins in OT to capture gold. Canada was out shot 40-18 in that game.

Or the 2011 WJC final - Russia came back from a 3-0 deficit to win 5-3. It's a classic rivalry.

Us old guys for sure. But the youngsters too. It's part of the Canada - Russia mystique. There's been plenty of times, when stars from past TC teams have given players pre-game pep talks, sent messages thru media etc.

When their on the Big Stage playing Russia, those Yankee kids probably flash back to 1980 too, media wont let them forget their history, plus they’re regaled with it, ad nauseam, since their knee high to grasshoppers

Sweden will be hard pressed to beat the Russians, I think the Russians would be better competition for Canada(if they win) in a final too.

As a Canadian I'll take it ;) Just win baby, I don't care how sexy the match-up is. Main thing is to win

That's fine, nothing wrong with that. As a hockey fan I'll take a good game over a one sided one any day, especially at this level.

There's no guarantee it wouldn't be one sided if they were playing some other team, thouhg, is there? ;)

The final between Sweden and Russia a few years back was probably the most one sided game I have ever seen (Russia had like what 2 shots through 2 periods?).

Anyway, I'd laugh so hard if the final ended up being Slovakia - Sweden. It's not happening, but it would be worth it just for the reactions on here.
