So what about Domi's play today and expectations for the Russia game? I can't get a real read on him, I see the talent and sparks but is he a Drouin(better or not as good)? I really liked Drouin at the time in previous World Jrs.

I am 99.9% sure Fucale starts tomorrow. And I do not have a problem with it.

He has posted good numbers and they have started him in both playoff games. It tells me they have decided to ride him to gold. I do not have a problem with it. They are both good goaltenders, and obviously I would rather Comrie be the starting goaltender as a Jets fan, but I still think we will win with Fucale.

Just win.

A Montreal fan would have no interest in Fucale starting, right?

No I want the goalie who has played in the majority of games so far, and is more battle tested. Nothing to do about biases here. If Groulx felt Comrie was the guy he would have played him in the majority of the games.

Only way i see Fucale having trouble is if Canada doesn't control most of the play and pepper Russia and get up to a 3 or 4 spot. Just like his Mem. Cup win. If it's a back and forth close game. Russia's goaltending > Fucale imo in that scenario.

Funny thing is i don't really trust Comrie either. I would've had Jarry on this hockey team.

Yet you go ahead and make a ridiculous generalization about Jets fans because one guy thinks Comrie should start ?

Might against a very high pressure Russian team. On the other hand, everything Groulx has done and asked his players to do has worked so far so I wouldn't expect (or even want) him to change a thing. Winning gold > rooting for prospects at this stage.

Agreed.

Yet its not a generalization, most jets fans want to see comrie start. And its understandable. But Fucale has been solid. No he is not a world beater, but he has been good enough. Ironically I actually feel Jarry should have been the starter. He is the best out of the three of them.

THIS: Either the Russian keeper steals this game or Connor McJesus becomes a man & scores a hattrick to shut up the haters.

Win or lose, this is Canada's best team in years.

I dont remember being asked to vote. Where are these "most Jets fans" saying this?

I feel like Jets fans would rather see Fucale fall flat on his face, then actually seeing Canada win. Kind of sad to be honest.

I am a Jets fan and that would be sad if it was true. I feel Comrie may be the better goalie but I think Fucale deserves the start in the final. He was the incumbent and he has had a very good tourney so I have zero problem at all with him getting the game.

Jets fans are biased towards their guy. Habs fans are biased towards their guy. Big deal. I wouldn't expect anything different. Let's stop the hyper analyzing.

My analysis of the game:

First half of the game was too close for comfort. Canada looked sloppy and over confident - that same play will come back to haunt us against Russia. Canada also looked off a step. The first 30 minutes was our worst 30 minutes of the tournament. If we were going to play like that, I am glad we did it against Slovakia.

The 2nd half we rolled. Mc David looked great but I want to see him perform at that level against the Russians.

Russia scare me. I would have preferred the Swedes or the Americans. All that Russian counter attacking could really come back to haunt Canada if they played like they did in the first 30 minutes of tonight's game. We need all of the lines to click - but that never seems to happen.

I don't like to make predictions because I am always wrong. I will just say I think Canada should win but after being in Buffalo in 2011, I won't bet on it.

I think the pre tournament game against the Russians will be a positive for Canada as they will not necessarily underestimate their opponents or play lightly like they started against slovakia.

This is no doubt my favorite Canadian team in years. Wish a team like this would have been sent to edmonton calgary.

That Slovakia goalie was unreal though, who knows what the score would have been if he didn't play.

Comrie will be in net tomorrow if we intend to actually win gold, saying it now. Anyone with a memory span of over one year will agree.

Beyond their skewed stats where Fucale clearly comes out on top - Comrie looked weak when it mattered in the US game. Fucale has been OK - and is clearly the goalie going forward.

If we can avoid the penalty box, we can beat them 5 on 5. Their pp is what scares me.

Canada out shot them 44-15 and the Slovak goalie made a bunch of circus saves. The score didn't reflect the actual game.
