In 2002, the US were given 11 power plays in the Gold medal final of the women’s tournament and Canada still won.

You can overcome the refereeing with a good PK.
Very true. It’s frustrating but a good power kill is one of the most important things in this tournament. Unfortunately, it’s near impossible to escape bad reffing. Happens everywhere.

How many PP minutes have respective team had?

How is that a good thing that they are constantly in the box? PP goals do count. Sweden look fine 5-on-5 but they are killing their own chances with all these dumb penalties.

But has Russians gotten away with what would have been penalties, had they been blue and yellow skaters?

That is a very important aspect of "fairness".
If you look closely you can find a penalty in almost any situation. For instance, there was one interference or a Swede would have gotten a breakaway.

Björnfot has been good today outside of a couple of bad shifts.

Have the Russians been called for the same things as Swedes, or have the refs turned a blind eye in those cases?

Honest question, cause I have not watched the game - but this is what I have been reading from both Swedish ad neutralfans in this thread

I thought the tripping call on Podkolzin was rather weak. Didn't look like a penalty to me.

Russians are so much better, Sweden had an easy pool luckily for them their goaltending has been better, otherwise it's game over!!

Same, It doesn't even register for me. I've noticed it never does for either Canadian or American fans. We wail about the refs but not where they are from as if they have some nationalistic reason for making bad calls against our teams, it seems to be exclusively a European fan phenomenon.
It's because the corrupt refs favor Canada that we don't care. :sarcasm:
