Wow! 59 pages. I just cannot keep up to the boards here. But to put in my 2 cents worth on the hot topics...

Goalie losing stick on a regular basis and does not cleanly catch pucks during warmup screams "injury" to me.

Russian PP goals should have counted from what I saw on the replays. It looks like the player lifted his left leg and got his toe back down on the blueline BEFORE the puck crossed the blue line.

Canada is doing great. I remember past years where you would always wait for the #1 line to come on and start something. Not so with this edition. 4 lines coming in waves and all doing their share. This team is well balanced. Not taking too many bad penalties either. But the game is not won yet and we will need another solid period to put this one away.
He injured his stick and catching hands independently?

That seems unlikely

If you don't like the offside or the penalty shot call. Blame the European IIHF, not the Canadian refs just following the paradigm of those rules. Okay.

It was the right call by the book, but probably should have been allowed to stand. I’ve said that during NHL games as well, it’s such a fast sport just let it stand.

When it’s so close like that I think a buffer of a little should be allowed.

It should be kind of like in the NFL when the game clock hits zero the ref looks down at his watch and back up before blowing it down for a penalty.

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Ray Ferraro hating on Askarov is the most iconic duo of this world juniors.

"Why is askarov going into the butterfly before the shot? You're giving the shooter an exact blueprint of where to shoot"

If anything the Canadian refs will be biased against Canada to avoid the accusation of bias. I'd absolutely prefer neutral refs as a Canadian fan, both for appearances and to avoid that disadvantage.
Me too, I'm not a fan of having non neutral refs, but it's necessary given the pandemic and so far really hasn't been a problem. Hopefully things will be more back to normal next year.

Larionov's "system" doesn't work in this modern hockey. Attack develops too slowly, that is why this team struggles to get shots on the net and goals.

Sort of like this... ?

was thinking more of Bob and Doug Mckenzie

imo, it's actually been an excellent look. they've been good all tournament - and much more patient with the scrums, whereas european refs would be tossing guys in the box for a little roughing after the whistle

I mean I like the reffing more than the usual IHWC bs but this does open a can of worms for sure

In any case, the game shows that Finland(vs CAN) is not that bad after all.

LOL pathetic. Name one 'favour' that benefitted canada in this game other than complete domination? I guess the refs f'avoured' them too when they ran over the finns last week?
have a seat

Slow down there Hoss'...

I am cheering for the Finn's tonight against the U.S. ...

I think that's just a Finn that doesn't want their team facing Canada in the final...

Win Finn's... win...

Hockey world will remember this bias refereeing like breaking Kharlamovs ankle with slash or TSN camera for what is wrongly won echoes in eternity

Similar to Hull's foot in the crease. Bad rule, but you gotta wave it off and fix the rule next year.

This guy has salt and delusion on another level. Stop trying to come up with this conspiracy to make up fore the fact that your team is getting utterly and indisputably dominated. Calls don't go your way, boohoo. Enjoy the bronze medal game and stop crying your team is bad

Not my team

I agree. I think he'll adapt and eventually be a fairly effective international coach. But at this point he's playing against the meta IMO. The game is just too much faster than it was when he played.

You could still get it, we've seen 4 goal comebacks with these teams multiple times over the last decade. Nothing is safe with these 2 teams.
Normally I'd agree with you, and deep down I still have a shred of hope, but I just haven't really seen much from this Russian team to think they have another gear to go to in order to have chance of riding a massive momentum wave to tie it back up.

Don't give a f*** about that call and wish all Russian comrades to do the same. It changes nothing.

The real tragedy is not the upcoming in 20 minutes defeat but the high probability that in 3-4 years 90% of Canadian team will be in NHL and 90% of our team in VHL and some Kazakhstan leagues. The gap in talent is sad and horrifying. And this year roster is considered as above average. Next couple of years are even weaker.

And it's even worse with the fact that it's completely predictable with the SoBs who are in charge of our hockey system (and not only hockey).
