Salty nuck fans in here.

He'll be ok for Edmonton riding alongside McDavid. Capable of scoring 25g while being his usual physically dominating self.

Salty? I'm ****ing ecstatic. As soon as it was rumoured he was going to FA, I was scared ****less. He is David Clarkson 2.0.

He'll be perfect in Edmonton. McDavid plays well with big power forwards who can drive the cycle game and suck defenders in opening up space for McDavid to work his magic.

No Chia did not trade him, he was traded at the Connor McDavid draft when Chia was already the Oilers GM. I'd be fairly surprised if he signed with MTL after all that drama in the playoffs, and I don't think MTL is exactly a contender at this point either.
that 'drama' lol? years ago and all would be forgotten after his first big hit/goal anyway. as for the habs not being a cotender?lol they had one bad year if that makes them bad or no longer a cup contender lol yet the oilers have no little to no sucess in the past 10+ years if Lucic was smart he would stay away from oil Town Mcdavid doesnt make the oilers a cup contender they need to aquire more to even make the playoffs? The habs are still a playoff team , price got hurt and they lacked goal scoring which they can aquire tomorrow if they are willing to and they will be right back up there in the race for the cup.Like i said we will find out tomorrow :)

Lucic and Clarkson aren't even comparable and you know that. You can hate the signing, but Lucic is in a tier that Clarkson never was.

Salty nucks fans in what way? Most of our fans wanted nothing to do with him, earlier this week on tsn1040 a poll was asked who the canucks should pursue in free agency, lucic received fewest votes. Just because fans did not want anything to do with him and still dont, does not make them salty. Im sure he still has a special place in your heart but many vc fans did not want him.

Unless you think were salty because he played in boston and dont want him due to 2011, while i could care less about that you would have more of a case then the above.

they already have toughness and grit in their lineup with kassian, marron, nurse and they arent small players need to keep foucising on their lack of skilled defensemen

I actually really like Eriksson to the Nucks if I'm a Nucks fan and being objective. I think he'd be great for you guys.

Lucic fits EDM perfectly, our situation is different than yours.

This is true. I don't think Lucic would be bad on Edm, I think he could really do well there. It's more the cap hit and term I'd be concerned about.

I get a kick out of fans assuming all Nucks fans want lucic desperately. Im not a nucks fan but I love Lucic and have always been shocked at how no nucks fans have wanted him. Friends , HFBoards and work colleagues that are die hard fans, I have honestly only seen maybe a handful of fans that want him. And this has been going on since LA was eliminated from playoffs

This is just a way for certain fans to feel as though they are sticking it to Nucks fans.... I can tell you first hand that majority of nucks fans want to stay completely clear of the contract Lucic is gonna get

Lucic fits oilers needs, he does fit Nucks needs imo

For sure. Plus you guys are in a different situation. I understand the "retool" with the Sedins, but you guys got some good young players coming up that will need to be paid. Also, Lucic would take playing time in the top 6 from younger guys who could use the minutes.

Lucic really is a perfect fit in Edmonton. For some reason McDavid plays really well with big power forwards, even if they can't keep up with his speed. He plays really well with a big winger on his line who can forecheck, drive the cycle game, and crash the net sucking defenders in. Lucic opens time and space for McDavid. It's a different circumstance and team make up.

I really think Eriksson is who the Nucks should be targeting, great player and fits where they are at/personnel better.

hes in win now mode man thats pretty obivious canucks aren't and oilers arent eithier yet anyway he hasn't flat out said no to the oilers because of Mcdavid just don't see a fit there if he truly wants a cup and not just the pay day id say he would sign with a legit cup contender elsewhere.
Gretzky escorted him into the new arena and they played him a promotional video on the new jumbotron. The video contained 30 minutes of McDavid highlights with play by play done by Morgan Freeman. Apparently Lucic teared up and asked for a pen but Pope Francis told him to "be patient my child"

Lucic and Clarkson aren't even comparable and you know that. You can hate the signing, but Lucic is in a tier that Clarkson never was.

Big, slow power forwards like Lucic have historically slown down and become ineffective into their thirties. If he's on a 7 year deal, that brings him til he's 35, and with the rumoured salary amounts, since Edmonton has competition, he just might get 7 mil from Chiarelli... That type of contract could handcuff you and cause you to have to give up younger, more effective players just to stay within the cap later on down the line. He may work for Edmonton now, but the point is, the Canucks can't afford to have another terrible contract.

You guys realize that just because you say this a million times it doesn't make it any more true. Lucic scored more points in a playoff run than Clarkson did during one of his prime years. Let that sink in.

We're in win now mode. We can't say "be patient" after the decade of darkness. McDavid and Drai are on their ELCs and we need to do whatever is necessary to surround them with a winning team. Right now. Lucic makes the Oilers immediately a harder team to play against.

VAN and EDM are in different situations, I certainly agree that Lucic is not a great fit for where you guys are right now.

What will a desperate Jim Benning do?

He has 15M in cap space and is gunning for the playoffs with a roster that finished 27th last year. Oh boy

He is going to remember that he needs to add some depth on the D.

Plus, he has Horvat, Gudbranson, Gaunce, Hutton, Trymakin, Markstrom to re-sign next off-season.

Depending on whether they buyout Burrows, they'll either get part of his cap savings this season and all of Miller's cap hit will be off the books.

Can't just go all nuts this off-season.

You have to be worried about term given how many players who still have contracts appear to be on the downside of their careers. Guys in their early 30's are having major drops in their production. E. Staal, Brown, Vanek, Michalek, Girardi.

Unsure why people are complaining about 7 year deal.. it's what the going rate is always for people in his shoes and that's just what will happen. This contract is usually players final big contract so he will want the longest length possible. Anyone thinking he will sign anything less than 7 years is delusional

Is Edm screwed is Lucic doesn't sign there? I presumed the Hall deal was only really done because Lucic was in the bag.
