I think this is quite optimistic and I love Seider.

In addition to the 5 you listed, Werenski is currently having a Norris level season and has to be ranked above. Heiskanen too. Morrissey for sure. McAvoy, probably.

But he’s right there and he jsut needs to put up better numbers to pass a bunch of these guys.
That's for a Norris conversation in terms of points. I need to shut down a star player or have a guy start in the defensive zone for a stop is a very short list at this point over Seider. In that sense and I have pointed this out before he is starting to remind me a ton of Alex Pietrangelo. His point value might never put him at the top of Norris lists, but he plays winning hockey and is impossible to play against while assuming work horse minutes.

Seiders a guy that will probably get some votes from the guys who love an old school throwback D, but he wont get his flowers until he has some battles with stars come playoff time.

Petro is a good comp. He had some top 5 finishes but never had the points to really win. Come playoff time lots owuld prefer him over a guy like Subban who did win though. The wings have a number one D that is legit good enough to win the cup though already, which is a big piece

JETS, RED WINGS EXTEND LEAGUE’S LONGEST ACTIVE WINNING STREAKS
The Jets (38-14-3, 79 points) and Red Wings (28-21-5, 61 points) each earned wins Tuesday to extend their winning streaks to seven games, one back of the longest by any team this season (WPG & CAR w/ 8 GP).

* Moritz Seider (1-0—1) was one of 10 Red Wings players with a point, which helped Detroit (28-21-5, 61 points) hold their spot in the East’s first Wild Card spot. The Red Wings tied their longest winning streak of the season (also 7 GP from Dec. 29, 2024 – Jan. 12, 2025) – both since Todd McLellan took over as head coach. McLellan joined Mike Babcock (9 GP & 8 GP in 2005-06) as the second head coach in Red Wings history to record multiple win streaks of at least seven games in their first season with the franchise.

I was just looking at Babcock's first season and the schedule was so weird back then, I had forgot how much it was slanted towards divisional play. During Babcock's first win streak (9 games) the final 5 wins were Columbus, Columbus, Chicago, Chicago, Chicago.

EDIT: A couple weeks later they also lost the Western Canada road trip with consecutive loses to Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and St Louis.
