Is he doing stuff in this game or is he invisible? He hasn't been on the ice for a Ranger goal either? lol
Depends on the game. It's like instead of waking up as a bug, he woke up and can't score.

Yep. This trade has been like a Franz Kafka novel.

in retrospect, I'm not sure how I feel about this trade. I was able to convince myself that the picks were alright for another year of this guy. He's an amazing player with outstanding talent. Always thrived in Tampa and lead the team every single game. True star player. I'm absolutely flabbergasted right now. It's fun to joke around about big name players crapping out when they come here, but this fits the meme so perfectly that all you can do is throw your hands up and laugh at this point.
I still think he turns it around, but hot damn this is getting silly.

Too bad I can't understand it, although trying to read it in that language is hilarious.
It was a horribly conceived trade for a number of reasons: MSL's age, size (not that it's necessarily an issue on its own, but it is given the other players on the Rangers' roster), position (for the love of all that's holy why did we need another RW?) and the fact that we should not be trading away picks in addition to Callahan (and we shouldn't have had to do so, given that this is the only team he wanted to come to). Even if he were scoring at a decent clip I'd still say it was an abomination.
Now it's... well, um, what's worse than an abomination?
We are winning, playing well, and especially playing awesome D. This is good enough for now. I will complain if we start losing and he is still doing nothing.
NYR Record since the St Louis trade
9 - 4 - 1
All four of these losses were lowscoring, one goal (add one EN goal) games that could/should have given a point on a team desperate for a playoff spot.
Total is 43 goals scored - 26 goals against since the trade (3,07 GF/game, 1,86 GA/game)
Before trade goal differential was 162 GF and 157 GA in 62 GP (2,62 GF/game, 2,53 GA/game)
Rangers are at 42-30-4 averaging 1,13 PPG. Before the trade Rangers were 33-26-3 and averaged 1,11 PPG. Rangers have averaged 1,36 PPG after it.
So both offense, defense and record have all improved since the trade. Hank has more or less stood on his head here (exempt Calgary).
This is all good. Very good! Team wise, of course.
However The Big 3:s production has dropped significantly in this span. Stats are::
R Nash 14 GP - 6 G - 2 A - 8 Pts - 0,57 PPG pace (before trade 40 GP - 19 G - 10 A - 29 P - 0,725 PPG). Salary = $7.800.000. Caphit = $7.800.000
Beaver 14 GP - 2 G - 3 A - 5 Pts - 0,36 PPG pace (before trade 62 GP - 16 G - 28 A - 44 P - 0,71 PPG ). Salary = $9.000.000. Caphit = $6.666.667
MSL 14 GP - 0 G - 3 A - 3 Pts - 0,21 PPG pace (before trade 62 GP - 29 G - 32 A - 61 P - 1,00 PPG). Salary = $6,500,000. Caphit = $5,625,000
TOTAL 42 GP - 8 G - 8 A - 16 Pts - 0,33 PPG pace (before trade 164 GP - 64 G - 50 A - 134 Pts - 0,82 PPG). Salary = $23.300.000. Caphit = $20.091.667
The Big 3 has 16 points and 8 goals since the Cally trade - of a total of 43 NYR goals scored SINCE the DEADLINE (IE 18,6% of goals scored)
Point totals for The Big 3 are 16 out of a total of 109 points (14,7%) in the relative 14 game span.
NYR point totals since the trade:
- D Stepan (14)
- R McDonaugh (12)
- M Zuccarello (10 - in 12 games)
- C Hagelin (9)
- R Nash (8)
- D Brassard (6)
- D Moore (6)
- C Kreider (5 - in 11 games)
- K Klein (5)
- D Girardi (5)
- B Richards (5)
- B Pouliot (5)
- B Boyle (4)
- A Stralman (3)
- J Moore (3 in 9 games)
- MSL (3)
- R Diaz (2 in 5 games)
- D Dorsett (2 in 7 games)
- M Staal (2)
- D Carcillo (0)
This really illustrates how bad The Big 3s production has been IMO.
The Big 3:s cap hit is however at $20.091.667 of $55.654.658 of the total hit of roster players not playing in goal. That means that their cap hit is 36,1% of this available space. This also includes all the defensemen. % cap numbers for these 3 players against the teams forwards are much worse.
This is no longer a small sample size. The "to go guys" have been MIA. Need to show up for the POs!
A bit out there but I post it anyways: Numbers for Ryan Callahan are 45 GP - 11 G - 14 A - 25 Pts (0,56 PPG) before the trade and 13 GP - 5G - 4 A- 9 Pts (0,69 PPG) since it occurred. Callahan has put up more points that Richards and MSL have done combined - in less games played. Or more points than Rick Nash albeit the same amount of goals scored. Tampa has lost two games in regulation since the trade going 7-2-4 (1,38 PPG).
As you have been saying, not if but when.Marty St. Loupls, amirite?
Srs though, I'm sure he'll come around, but this is really, really frustrating.
People are hung up on Callahan. But leave out the precious picks that were given away.People mention Callahan as a response the "give him time to adjust" line. Callahan hasn't needed it.
