This! People bang on about how Allen isn’t good, can’t even make it to a Super Bowl … dude (and the rest of the team) has to go through the current dynasty to even get out of the Divisionals.
People bang on about how Allen and the Bills can’t beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. Yeah well neither can anybody else.

Cincy getting past them once (amazing 2nd half adjustments by Anarumo) really changed the narrative against Buffalo towards the worst.

Yeah but you figure there are 4 outcomes
1) what happened (best case)
2) PI (2nd best case)
3) arm punt (not ideal but livable)
4) incompletion (not ideal but livable)

All 4 outcomes are either great or livable and it shows you trust both your offense and your defense.

Edit to add: only negative is a 5th option, an offensive penalty.
I'd point out the Bills did this earlier in the year against the Giants...but Knox dropped the ball, so instead of going to victory formation we had to hang on for dear life that Taron wasn't going to be flagged two plays in a row...

McDermott knows how to shutdown Lamar. How healthy would Bernard, Benford, and Douglas have been???

Bernard's health really would have been the key as he's the one athletic enough to really spy Lamar.

My initial instinct....as it was last week.....is to say that we likely lose this week because our Lamar beaters are either still out (Milano) or not near 100% (Bernard). Lamar annihilates Dodson and/or Klein. He likely burns Williams as much or more than Williams stops Lamar.

FWIW we had a FG there so it was victory formation or 8 pts with NYG ball at the 25....but Bass missed

The doghouse
Worse QBs than Lamar have performed well against us this year.

It's not unfathomable to think that given how hurt we were at the end of the year.....that we'd have difficulty stopping the Ravens' O. Especially given how healthy the Chiefs' D was.

Who was the last qb that performed well against us? Hurts in week 12?

Mahomes in the first half last week sure, but Mahomes is Mahomes

Doesn't matter who the last QB was that performed well against our HEALTHY defense. Our D that would have played this week would not have been at full strength, especially where it matters against the Ravens -- up the middle.

Show us which receivers the Chiefs drafted in the first round to make sure Mahomes had help……

#narratives
It may not be 1st round...but they've spent 2 2nd rounders in recent years (Skyy Moore, Rashee Rice) and traded another day 2 pick for former 1st rounder Kadarius Toney. Obviously Moore and Toney busted, but Rice has become an essential piece of their run this postseason.

In other words, sure, it wasn't the 1st round, but they have invested draft capital in WR (even if the results is a mixed bag). It's not exactly like they've just punted on getting playmakers either.

I'm also fairly positive Mahomes would love throwing to Addison or Flowers I'm addition to Rice instead of Toney/MVS.

They also gave MVS a big contract and took a savvy flyer on Juju last year. Their problem is more missing a lot than lack of investment. And even so, they took enough shots that they landed some hits amongst the sour

This game shifted completely on just 3 plays: missed 4th down by Detroit, this missed Lions INT bouncing to Aiyuk for 50 yards, and the Gibbs fumble.
