That said he is going to have to get there during the later part of his career. At some point the young'uns are going to be too good on the edge and he will lose a step eventually.

At least part of the reason you don't see the scrambles as much is because teams know now he likes to get out on the edge so they have linebackers play a short zone there - doubles as a spy. Edge rushers are also very aware if they hold the edge there's a chance Josh will come to them.

If he were a little better at escaping through the pocket up the middle (like what was simulated on the QB draw) they wouldn't be able to contain as easily on the outside.
