GDT: - season game 46 LA Kings vs Columbus Blue Jackets @4:00pm 1/25/25

Columbus was 7-2-1 in their last 10 and 16-5-3 overall at home before this game.

Kings were still much better. If you play like this every game, there is not much to worry.

Fiala wanted to get off the ice because he was hurt in that last sequence but that was impossible.

Still horribly lazy vs. Marchenko.

Well...which is it, was he hurt, or was he horribly lazy?

Seems you gotta pick one, because it would be absolutely brutal to call a guy who was hurt, "horribly lazy" BTW, you can see he was in absolute pain....he and the CBS jacket collided both were shaken up, but the CBS could make it to bench because of the long change etc....

Just a circumstance, but it does allow for all the Fiala haters to hate again without realizing what actually happened

I see we’ve reached the “moral victory” point of the season / organization defense

Dunno how many times we have to falter in January and stumble/back in into the playoffs before anything changes

I dont think you have to pick one.

Everybody could see he was laying down in front of Kuemper. Thats not for fun, especially not in OT. Someone here even mentioned some kind of embellishment.

He was forced to play like a defender now but still had the edge on Marchenko but let him walk by way to easily, even when he was hurt.

Everyone complaining about Fiala but nobody mentions the two horrible plays by Byfield in OT.

Q had a rough game all around, game tying goal aside.

Fiala has had a rough season all around. Not what you expect from your 8 million dollar “ppg” winger.
Thought Fiala was pretty damn good last night, don’t know what game you were watching.

Making the playoffs is contending for the Cup in Blake's world/mind. That's the problem.
Little-to-no brains between Bluc.
It appears you are looking to make up for Sol and Konto’s absence….well done.

How many points did Fiala have last night? Asking for a friend…
Dash 1 in a 3-2 OT loss, including being a pylon for the game winner, is where my concern lies.

It’s either delusion or lunacy that is forcing you to gloss over that. Collecting 2nd assists on broken plays doesn’t absolve him of his defensive ineptitude.

Sorry, forgot he’s getting paid to be a Selke candidate.

Fiala f***ing vanishes in the post season as well, beyond useless. He actually does more damage with stupid giveaways and taking costly penalties. I think Lee or Fagemo would be more effective than him, not even hyperbole at this point. 8 mil to play like complete shit, PLD really set that precedent and made it acceptable to be that ineffective.

Beautiful shot chart.

I thought the Kings did a good job of getting shots in tight around the net.

Nearly 5 expected goals.

Disagree. Lombardi made an important distinction when he took over: playing hurt versus playing injured.

In the playoffs, everyone is hurting. While it's not the playoffs now, is Fiala going to get walked a lot because he's hurting, when it matters more?

This isn't about "hating" a player.

Huge difference between what Lombardi was talking about and it literally just happening seconds beforehand

Oof you need a pretty bad take to make GBH look correct. "Playing hurt" is a completely different thing than the immediate aftermath of an injury, even if it doesn't end up serious. What happened to fiala is more like when a guy takes a slapper off the ankle and drops to the ice -- you don't single that guy out if they score afterward, and you commend him for getting back up and scrambling into the play to try

Sometimes I just pretend Fiala and Kempe swapped contracts and that makes me feel better.
It’s almost like some of you are completely new to the sport and have never witnessed a star player having an ‘off’ year….the guy scored 230 points in the previous 3 seasons FFS.
