I was wondering what might be a good pick-up for the Jets and thought about Monahan being a solid pick-up for the Jets.

I would think 2nd 2024, Logan Stanley and Dominic Toninado for Sean Monahan (50% retained)

Toninado and Stanley have no value to Montreal.

Seems very unlikely Monahan gets traded for anything less than a 1st+ given his strong play, his public desire to be in Montreal and Mtl's injury depleted roster.

1st, Kupari, Barron might get Hughes to listen, if that seems to much then the Jets are probably shopping elsewhere

Montreal would have no interest at all in acquiring a defensemen and I'm assuming Toninado is there to send a centre back to finish the season, so this is basically a 2nd rounder for Monahan which is probably about right, but I suspect the Canadiens could get a 2nd rounder and some kind of project prospect or younger player they like tossed in from someone if they wait closer to the deadline when prices start to rise.

U know Monahan has been solid in MTL but has he even been better than Namestnikov this year? Honest question I don't know.

Sorry Habs’ fans but Monahan isn’t worth a whole heck of a lot. He’s older and injury prone. Too big a risk for playoff clubs to offer up too much. Habs should, of course, trade this plsyer and get the third rounder he will return, as they aren’t going to the playoffs this year.

I can't say, haven't seen much of the Jets/Namestnikov. Monahan is being used in a much bigger role (~3min/game more) and with far less top 6 talent. A GM/pro scout might well view Monahan as able to contribute more in the Jets roster context.

This is an overpayment. The ceiling on the return on Monahan is the Domi trade last year and I doubt it even fetches that considering Domi had better numbers and was injury free and even Domi only went for a late 2nd. No way the Jets should be trading the Habs 2nd round pick for Monahan which is very likely going to be a top-40 pick.

I'm not impressed by Monahan, and don't think he fits the Jets' style very well. They play a very fast, aggressive style, and Monahan is not a high-pace player. In any case, I don't think he'd be more effective than Namestnikov, who cost the Jets a 4th at last year's deadline. Jets should be aiming higher at this TDL.

Haven't seen much of Monahan this season, but his game historically has never impressed me. Soft, not a great defensive game, not much of a line driver.

Faceoff ace(?), very good hands and in front of the net as the bumper on the powerplay.

Multitude of injuries later and more miles on that body, is he a playoff caliber checking center? I don't see it.

An older Jeff Carter like goal scoring winger type and I can see the utility, playing alongside a playdriver.

Monahan is on pace for less than fifty points while getting top six minutes. When Calgary moved Monahan into a bottom six role, he was useless. He's not the best skater, isn't physical, and is not great defensively.

I don't see Monahan as the type of player teams will look to attain for a playoff run. A guy like Domi had lots of jam, which Monahan doesn't have.

Not a terrible offer. Hughes would probably fish around to try to get a first for him but if no one bites then sure. I would prefer a 2nd + a body/contract F that ends at the end of the season to balance out money. No need for yet another D.

He plays with Jake Evans and Gallagher… don’t know where you want the 50 points to come from.

The 2 players in the deal have no value to Montreal so it essentially boils down to the second rounder in a down draft depth wise.

Stanley only has value to Montreal if a nuclear bomb explodes in Laval and Montreal. The forward is a guy who will take up spots for Montreal’s young prospects in Laval or will be a useless 4th liner

Domi is soft as butter except when he occasionally sucker punch someone (that isn't really a positive attribute...). He sure brings more speed, but he Monahan is a better center and defensive player. My opinion is mostly based on both players tenure in Montreal. Doesn't seem like Domi changed a ton from my viewings this season either ...
