Brodeur will retire at 41 owning the most games won in league history and a ticket already punched for the hall of fame.

Avery threw a promising career away at age 31 because he couldnt stop being an *******.

That seems to be the bottom line.

Nobody is arguing that Brodeur didn't have the better career between the two of them. Brodeur for all his accomplishments still has to go out of his way to take shots at Avery. Avery may have thrown away his career, but he still made more than enough money and can now pursue his other interests.

Brodeur is the one who started this here.

Sean still the GOAT

Nobody is contesting that Brodeur is the better hockey player. That would just be ridiculous.

The real bottom line is that Devils fans and Rangers fans don't like each other. That's the reality. When Avery and Brodeur take shots at each other it mirrors the relationship between the fan bases. When Brodeur initiates something with Avery (which he did in this case) and Avery fires back, it's OK for Rangers fans to enjoy it.

I don't understand why the Avery haters spend so much time harping on his "wasted career." He's probably enjoying himself more now that he ever was. It's his life, why do people find it so offensive that he chose to do something else other than play hockey?

his dancing was pretty meh, though I wouldn't be able to concentrate with that going on next to (and all over) me either

You can agree or disagree on whether or not dancing is lame, but to go out of your way to basically talk crap about a guy who hasn't been in the picture for over 2 years (when he retired) is just pathetic.

Brodeur is definitely the better hockey player, but not the better human being. This just shows the petty grudge he holds against Avery. He didn't shake his hand after the play-off round, he talks crap about Avery and all Sean Avery has done, is move on with his life.

He is raising money for charity by being on that show. The only Charity Brodeur is doing, is probably some stripper named Charity in Newark.

Avery immediately goes to Brodeur allegedly having an affair with the nanny. Wasn't it Brodeur's sister in law? Brodeur's ex-wife Melanie had a brother who had a wife. That was the girl. Avery brings up waking up next to Hillary Rhoda. Why even bring that up? You know why. :sarcasm:

I think it's quite clear the both of them are awful humans

I was just listening to CBS FM and one of the guys with Scott is a Devils fan. Scott brought up the little brouhaha between Avery and Brodeur. Of course, the Devils stooge was trying to justify Brodeur: saying Brodeur was right that Avery couldn't have embarrassed himself any more by appearing on DWTS, that Brodeur didn't sleep with a nanny but a "distant relative," and that Brodeur has 3 rings.

Avery was perhaps the least accountable hockey player I'd ever seen. It was always somebody else's fault. Somebody else always started it. Whoa is me....

Hell, even on this stupid show, hes saying he got kicked off because of a producer. Some things never change

In my opinion, he could have had a much better career than he had, but he seemed more interested in being a show than a player.

I understand that many may disagree with me.

Being a hockey player isn't very important. Some people prefer being a show. I don't think that's much of an indictment and I feel like you think it's supposed to be.

I know this may be hard but hockey seems like it was a means to an end. Got him millions of dollars and some fame. Then he got his foot in the door to stuff he loves and continues to dabble in things he loves. Anyone who frames this like a negative is showing a severe lack of perspective. Loved watching him as a hockey player and if he only gave a damn about hockey you'd be right that he hurt himself but the guy clearly has a life that he probably enjoys just as much, if not more than, his hockey life

Since his early retirement, hes worked for a now-defunct/bankrupt fashion house and got booted off Dancing With the Stars.

Considering his attitude, it sure seems like it would've been a good idea for him to keep collecting million in the NHL for as long as he could.

I love when people are critical of stars when someone like Avery has already been more successful in a short period of his life than you will ever be in a lifetime.

Bold statement: If John Tortorella never became the Rangers coach, Sean Avery would still be in the NHL.

Doubtful. He had a new lease on life away from Torts and a fat contract in Dallas yet he still managed to screw that up with his usual antics.

Bottom line is Avery did DWTS for charity and Blowdeur is still bitter about something that happened over half a decade ago.

Also lmao @ Avery didn't care about hockey. The dude wasn't some offensive or defensive phenom, he had to work his ass off to get to the NHL and stay there. Some of you need to relax with all these "in depth" analyses based on how you think he conducted himself.

Marty does have a point... Sean's performance on the show was so cringe-worthy that I felt secondhand embarrassment for him. And this is coming from someone who generally liked Avery until his final season with the Rangers.
