Meh. I get that Kakko wasn't who we all hoped for, and his value may have been as shitty as this trade suggests, but for a second overall pick that we desperately, desperately needed to pan out to end as unceremoniously as this — it just feels like yet another dagger. Borgen might be a fine enough player for us, but a pending UFA for someone who was speculated to be a central piece in, e.g., an Eichel trade, it just feels horribly brutal even if this is Kakko's actual value. It's funny that, throughout his entire tenure here, this team's go-to move when they need a jolt is to martyr Kakko.
I'm probably still going to watch the games because I don't have a life, but I'm kinda just over this team for a while.
