i like that the blues take perunovich's development seriously

i think it's fair to compare him to quinn hughes based on his play style, but i'd love for him to be decent a defense at least and that's what i hope he can build on in the AHL. vancouver really didn't have a choice but to let hughes learn at the NHL level, blues can take their time with scott perunovich.

for the PP patrol, here's removal of non-p words to be in compliance rather than testing my brain for alliteration:

Cale Makar-light.

And we can add him to the lineup for free without the need to trade our firepower up front.

Scandella-Parayko
Perunovich-Faulk
Krug-Bortuzzo

Our left side problems are solved and this team has offense everywhere combined with elite goaltending.

Greatest show on ice? J/k.

Why? He was best player in ncaa as a D. Why would you move him to unfamiliar position in NHL? Has that ever worked?

Byfuglien came into the league as a D,and Chicago moved him to RW. He did alright. Obviously he eventually went back to D. Federov played D for Detroit when they were short on D-men, and he was obviously a C. It was only a 10-20 game stretch. Burns primarily played RW in juniors, and was put on D in the NHL. He has gone back to forward at times, but he has a Norris at D. Wendel Clark was drafted first overall as a D, and switched to forward for 550+ points in 800+ NHL games. Its rare, but there are a couple of notable examples.

Federov was amazing. I remember Bowman was angry with him so he moved him to d as punishment, but he was actually really good there.

Still kind of thinking that Dunn could be or could have been a really good LW or Center.
Not at all suggesting that the Blues move SP

I thought that as well. Just seemed to have s knack for the position. Conversely I remember Twist saying that he would have liked playing defense but he couldn't skate backwards.

Of the top 20 points leaders in the AHL the kid is the only defenseman. Currently he is 6th. Not bad for a rookie in that league.

Yeah, I'm already looking forward to the days when he will be running a PP unit on the big club. And he is super on-ice aware too, rarely puts himself in a bad position.

I’m a bit surprised we didn’t call him up in Krug absence.
Same here. Makes me think that there might be some very specific things they have him working on in the AHL and they don't want to disrupt the work he's putting in by putting him in different situations and a different role in the NHL. Either that or maybe he's still a little too dinged up from whatever kept him out of the first game last weekend.

It is cap related reasons.

COVID player still count against cap. His bonuses are so high that there are ramifications for them. Why Rosen was called up over him.
