Series Talk: SCFs Discussion - 2024 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS

If we play Edmonton, I'm sure that it's a big series for Tkachuk. Edmonton owned him like Tampa owned us before the trade.

I think I'm supposed to hate you guys or something like that but I've found myself secretly rooting for you lol  Can't help but admire the scrappiness and resolve of the team and the business like manner in which Florida has taken out multiple elite goalies and bounced back from tough games with no excuses. I also hate the Oilers and their fans so this is an easy choice for me. Go Panthers I guess?

Maurice has plenty of experience against McDavid and Drai. He should have a pretty good idea what to do against them. I'm going to have nightmares about Ekblad trying to skate with those guys.

Oilers played like shit tonight and Skinner dragged their carcass over the line

For the love of God, please do the league, Canada, and decency a favour and beat this team.

The oilers are the truck nuts of the NHL. Their fans are pigs and the players like Kane pricks

We have always had pretty solid games against Edmonton.. sometimes they came out firing.. but we have always matched them decently.

They will get some goals.. but I have hope we will too.. including more 5 on 5

was listening to the chiclets podcast from back when the series was 2-1 and it was interesting to hear them all talking about how well the stars were playing down low. contrast that to what I saw tonight - a team trying to make fancy and/or low-percentage plays off the rush. we fought that tendency a couple of times during the season but have been fairly consistent over the postseason.

imo, we have a better group of forwards to play that style than DAL. if EDM can't match or exceed our effort/success in terms of forechecking and slow our guys down, we're going to hem them in and could play a lot of the SCP downhill like last series. think about how many grade A chances we generated last series as well. slightly better finishing and we could survive losing the special teams battle.

I could image a scenario where they keep us away from our game for enough of 4 games and win the special teams battle by enough to win it. I don't think they'll beat us in a series that isn't impacted by special teams, though.

the other thing I've been thinking about is that I don't think we've seen the best game from the panthers yet. I kept saying in the first series that it didn't feel like playoff hockey. yet we won easily. the Bs series had it's moments but I think this last series saw some periods of dominance. I get the feeling the guys have been trying to manage their energy expenditure so as to be actually at peak in the SCF (rather than at the end of the first round).

Well, this will be tough. The oilers are on a f***ing heater. Have to contain McDrai
But wonder how the rest does for them? Does it cool them off like it did us, esp with the excitement of it being their first cup finals?
Rest may help us this time around since i dont think anyone is as banged up as last year, hopefully bennetts and barkovs hands are healed up.
