The Olympics were huge in my opinion. It helped jumpstart all of the Kings who played other than maybe Voynov. That in conjunction with Gaborik turned this team around offensively.

It's disgraceful and it definitely taints their two titles in the 1990s.

I don't know of any similar tank job to get Crosby and Malkin but I would definitely take a look at those seasons 2001-2006 as they sucked bad again, but at least their was a pattern to their suckiness.

I watched that clip on NHL Tonight last night and to have them not only admit to it but talk about the game they were wining and upset at that...it dos taint it.

And that's very similar to how TB got STamkos...

You know, I don't really have a problem with it. If a draft is going to exist, and some junior phenom comes along, it's not like every team is going to do what Pittsburgh did back then. If you don't want the potential of that happening, or having to look forward to a 5 year rebuilding project, or whatever, then the draft has to go, and just have all the draft eligible players be free agents, like any normal business. Then there's no reward for not being a good team.

If the draft is going to be there, some teams are going to not be good on purpose, whether there's a Mario Lemieux available or not. It's a strategy within the environment of the league.
