It may depend on what the team decides with Chychrun. With him re-signed (I'll assume around 8 mil) and assuming Chuckie is re-signed around 3mil, there won't be a ton of room (6ish-7ish depending on what they do with 3C, 4C, and 4RW). However, if the Caps don't re-sign Chychrun, they could easily fold in a 10+m player. Caps have a great salary cap window particularly in 25-26 with McMichael signed at 2.1, Protas signed at 3.3, and Strome signed at 5.0. The best part is that Strome/Protas are both signed for several more years.
Add in all high quality prospects who will be playing on entry-level contracts the next few years, and the Caps have reason to be aggressive.
