Why is the video edited?

One moment, Martinez is celebrating alone.
The next, he's mobbed by the entire team.
...at 20 seconds in.

:-/

Actually, I made this point about a month ago.

It's horribly edited and doesn't match the call. If the video is likewise edited on the final cut, it's not authentic and won't match the call.

Which would be a real shame.

So far to our availability, the only authentic calls that match the video are the NBC, CBC, and RDS feeds. Hopefully they get it right when they release the entire DVD of Jim's and Bob's call.

"Matching the video" is generous for Hughson. He had this way-too-long pregnant pause after the puck went in the net. Like he wanted visual from the ref (on a very obvious goal) before he said "they score!". He was too worried about making a mistake and it resulted in him waiting too long to say something.

It's so bad you think there is audio sync problems on the YouTube vid, but that's how it was live. Bob's call skipped a beat too, but not that bad. Emrick's was immediate (and the best).

I wanna know why the crowd is so quiet on Bob and Jim's version.

Because the Kings did their own production and weren't tapping in to the ice level arena mic's the TV and radio folks use. Perhaps they'll be able to mix the TV ambient audio in during post-production. You're only hearing what is being picked up by the mics they used (not many - probably by where Bob and Jim were doing the game in the stands) and Bob and Jim's mic's.

Watched this 30 times in a row. I only cried 42 times

It cannot be stated enough - that goal was as much Toffoli's goal as Martinez. I am 100% convinced he shot that puck towards Henry's right pad knowing there was a good chance for a fat rebound and Alec would be there. Tyler "pump-faked" making Henry lower himself to the ice and then boom!

Such a glorious moment forever. :yo:

You mean like this shot off the pad , then right to Trevor Lewis for the gwg vs SJ?

I agree Emerick had a much better reaction, but I don't think Hughson was that bad. It sounded more like he was trying to catch his breath after he shouted "rebound!"

LOL, how boring is it this summer without hockey? Now we are debating how long these guys take to call a goal a goal!

P.S. How about that extended crowd reaction after the game winner? On the CBC broadcast, they (we ;) ) continue to cheer for about two minutes even after that stupid extended Staples Center horn blowing (wish they didn't do that).

Actually you can see the shot and rebound, then who shoots it in so those guys, it's easy to see who gets credit. But Clifford's drive to the net taking out the defenseman, needs a lot more love.

Agreed! The entire line on the ice deserved lots of love. From Green's interception of the pass from behind the net to Lewis' subtle pick to really spring Martinez from the Kings blue line. A sequence that should be taught in all hockey schools. :handclap:

Was just really commenting on how that shot by Toffoli was no accident.

This stuff never gets old. This one is of a daughter taping her father last season watching the last-second Richards goal in game 5.

As one YouTube commenter wrote, it would have been interesting to see his reaction to the Martinez goal this season.

I thought the same, that it was a planned play by Taffoli, but if you look closely, you will see the shot deflect just slightly off of the stick of 17, sending the puck to the left and off the right pad of Lundqvist. Check the slow-mo zoom at the 48 second mark of this clip:

Glorious none the less!!!
