I don’t recall saying it was better. But, Florida definitely beat great teams to get to the finals. Looking at it though, I will say the East is deeper in terms of talent.
No the east just proved they are at best paper tigers that only dominate regular season games. You can't even say Vegas would lose against Carolina or Leafs or Boston. Florida beat those teams and in fact sweeped one of them and Vegas has way more depth compared to those teams. No comparison when it comes to playoffs, west is just better

They lost 1 game total in rounds 2 & 3 combined. I don't care what kind of mental gymnastics you're doing, those series were absolutely not close.

I didn't watch the Toronto series because I had other things to watch at the time, but if you don't think the Florida/Carolina series was close I don't know what to tell you. It was 5 overtime periods, a last-second goal, and a 1-0 game. The same team coming out on top in 4 consecutive nail-biting games doesn't mean it was a blowout.

I agree. Just saying that this version of Florida isn't anywhere near the best team in the East. But this version wasn't playing in the earlier rounds. Those pucks that are bouncing into the net and through screens were hitting skates and posts, rolling clear. All three series turned on OT games, and OT games turn on those bounces. Eventually those bounces start going the other way, which is why there aren't any .960 goaltenders in the NHL.

It's hockey, stuff happens. Sometimes you get a Price or Bobrovsky situation. That's why we bother watching.
Very true. The NHL playoffs is the most random of any sport and dependent on luck, fortunate bounces and goalies playing hot at the right time. I thought my Oilers were victims of all three in the Vegas series in what was an otherwise evenly played series.

However, in this series, Florida is just getting their asses kicked. I don't think a healthy Tkachuk would have been enough to change the outcome.

People forget FL got in to the PO by the skin of their teeth on the last day of the reg season; it took lowly CHI to beat PIT in Pittsburgh for the panthers to make it. Its not as if they were a dominant team all season, they struggled for long stretches.
I know. And yet this is the team that beat the shit out of the east, and is still no match for Vegas. It's laughable. Such an allegedly great conference and this is the champion? LMFAO

Rod is that you?

It's 4 games. I don't care if every game goes to 5OT. If you lose 4 straight that's not close.
