nothing "magical" about it... Bennett took the Bruins captain out of the series (basically) with a vicious punch...no suspension

Draisaitl elbowed Barkov in the head and took a penalty...and Barkov back at practice today looking just fine

the NHL was never gonna suspended a guy who didn't injure a player when they didn't suspended a guy who took the Bruins Captain out of the series

What you fail to elude to is that there was no reverse angle shot for them to judge it on. It was well after the fact. Had they had that view from the start there very well might have been a suspension.

The Drai/Barkov hit they had the view and chose not to even look at it. There was no idea how bad Barkov was and he did leave the final 9:00 or so minutes of the game. You punish the attempt/intent not how long the player is out. 2 minutes wasn't enough for what he did.

Barkov being fine days later doesn't mean they didn't screw up not looking at the replay.

Trust me, now one was more shocked than me when he trounced Monahan. I remember being disgusted, then laughing my ass off. Imagine carrying that loss around for the rest of your days!!

Listen, Drai is an ungodly talent. I'm sure he takes his fair share of abuse on the ice. But I'm an old fart, and I still believe in the "code". I think either Drai answers for the dirty shit he does, or he stops doing it.

Everyone knows he does it when things aren't going his way, so it's essentially a temper tantrum.
Pity his poor wife and kids!!

Do you apply that expectation to Carrick, Bennett, Tkachuk?

-One is absolutely willing.
-One is very capable but seems to be disinterested in fisticuffs at the moment.
-One is a turtle and only likely to fight 97 if he gets the chance.

That said, I don’t expect any one being challenged so no one will be faced with not adhering to the code. Not in this cup final. I also suspect that the players on each squad are less outraged by the hit than many posters and fans are.

Edmonton taking out Barkov didn’t work so now they’re calling on god to stop the plane
Funny thing is that "act of god" is something that is actually referred to in north american contracts, laws etc. In europe we have "force majeure" but I found it funny that such cases were referred to as acts of god in north america.
Anyhow...I'll show myself out.

Ridiculous. SMDH. This is whataboutisms with a twist.
The way it is being defined here, whataboutism can be legit.

That man punched our friend in the face. Then he ran away while all his friends laughed and threatened him. This happened again and again. So I went and punched one of them in the face.

Then someone screams, "Whataboutism!"

Whatever. In hockey it's actually called not being a punching bag and not spending your carreer being bullied. Keep whataboutisms in such places as Politics where it belongs. It's not valid here.
