one of my favorite hockey cliches is pretending that the winning goalie isn't actually on the winning team so you can argue that the losers were actually better even though they... lost.
Yes. It’s like pretending that the Oilers don’t deserve to win when McDavid takes over a game. Just a strange position to think that having a great goalie isn’t a good thing.

Panthers are so much more physical than EDM. That Bennett hit was bone jarring. That gives them the edge esp after winning game 1.

Exactly. Oilers had some good chances but maybe about 2 or 3 grade A chances at most.
according to moneypuck the high danger chances went 18-6 in favor of oilers but I'm sure your methodology is better

Tonight was one of those "Panthers had the lucky bounces" type of game coupled with a hot elite goal for whom they were facing in Bobrovsky. No one expects the Panthers to win three more of these games where they were grossly outshot.

That said it was not just a fluke. Florida won many faceoffs and won many of the small puck battles in both zones. Small little plays like tipping picks just outside their zone to force the Oilers to exit, or tying the Oilers player against the board rather than trying to take the puck away - these small things have cumulative effects for which Florida ultimately benefits.

Would love to hear Knob’s reasoning for the Nurse - Ceci pairing. Nurse needs a dman that can move the puck and was fine with Kulak. If it ain’t broke why change it. Nurse and Ceci have been a bad pairing all season and share one brain between each other and can’t baby sit each other.

What bounces? You mean the blown coverage on the Oilers D on the 2 goals? Like when the 9.25 M pylon watched the puck go past him to the open man all alone 8 ft from the net? Man those darn bounces.

They’ve been brutal all playoffs. Nurse is around minus 17 this playoffs. That’s historically bad.
