I think it is a good move putting Desharnais back in. He plays a simple game. Ceci runs around too much and pinches too much for a guy that has zero offensive skill at all.

He'll play and no one is afraid of Bennett
LoL, That comes from those who were saying Bennett, and all Panthers, were afraid of Kane.
Knoblach’s comments to the press seemed like he was setting up to scratch Kane. He was talking about how important he is to the team getting to this point....almost was like he was making it clear that a scratch wouldn’t be performance based.

Because he’s easier to scratch than Nurse who has been worse. Can you imagine a rookie coach scratching a $9.25 million D that the current GM signed to a multi year extension?
Smallish sample sizes but I believe Nurse has ok results away from Ceci.

You Got, Florida
The Oilers were focused on setting tone for the series in game1 so a loss was expected. Borbosvky played well but his performance wasn't excellent because the Oilers weren't really trying to score goals. A major problem in game1 was the refs bias. Panthers were diving all over the ice and the refs just put their whistles away. That'll just encourage the Panthers to dive even more. Hopefully we see a new set of refs for the next game.
bettmans panthers r to dirty and never get called for anything
oilers shouldve had 17 powerplays that game

OEL shouldve been called for embellishment

17-1 Oilers win and panthers only goal is during intermission

The numbers would suggest Ceci has been significantly worse than Nurse.

Nurse's 5v5 numbers are actually really good without Ceci. Can't say the same for Ceci without Nurse:

Nurse w/ Ceci (167:04 TOI)
34.4% xG%
36.6% HDCF%

Nurse w/o Ceci (150:43 TOI)
58.8% xG%
56.7% HDCF%

Ceci w/o Nurse (153:54 TOI)
39.5% xG%
43.2% HDCF%

They have been god-awful together though. Don't understand why they've been allowed to be a pair for so long.

Speaking of numbers shouldn’t you be thinking about the draft or free agency. Don’t get me wrong though, we love that you’re spending so much time thinking about and talking about the Oilers.

Vinny in for Ceci is a huge boost. Oilers will be rolling an optimal lineup tonight so let's hope they get some results so the lineup can stick. Knob won't often change the lines after a W.

Incorrect. Ceci has been ok away from Nurse. Nurse has just been dreadful period no matter who he is paired with.

‘Together in 179 even strength minutes in the playoffs, Nurse and Ceci have been on the ice for 5 goals for, 14 against, a 26% Goal For Percentage.

Without Nurse in 154 minutes, Ceci is 3 goals for, 2 against, a 60% Goal For Percentage.

Without Ceci in 155 minutes, Nurse is 5 goals for, 12 against, a 29% Goal For Percentage.

Without either Nurse or Ceci on the ice at even strength, Edmonton is 30 goals for, 19 against, a 61% Goal For Percentage.’

Sure. But Nurse’s minus 17 for the playoffs is in record setting territory.
That's a pretty meaningless stat, especially in such a short sample size. He's rocking a 915 PDO, which is incredibly low.

Also, he's -15 not -17.

Ceci has been terrible away from Nurse at 5v5. He's gotten completely caved in, but has been lucky to get 0.959 sv% goaltending (2 goals against on 5.2 expected goals against on 47 shots).

Meanwhile, the goaltending has been awful for Nurse while on the ice without Ceci - 0.819 sv% (11 goals against vs 5.4 expected goals against on 74 shots)
