I hope his interpersonal and negotiation skills are light years ahead of those of his public appearance. He reminds me of the lonely college student that finally worked up the nerve to go to a comedy open mic.

Mixed feelings. I understand the Rangers are at a point that they are no longer rebuilding but I also don’t want to go back to the 2012-16 era where we trade pretty much every high pick and prospect we have. I’m a little nervous of a Eichel trade because not only the cost but his neck issues. Those issues have certainly lowered the cost but still it’s probably going to cost a slot and his contract probably will force another good piece off the team

Cautiously optimistic.

I like the Gallant hire and the move to grab Goodrow’s rights was a move I liked but that goodwill was lost when I saw the contract he’s going to give him.

If he makes more moves that a contender would make rather than a team coming fresh off a rebuild that still hasn’t produced a legit playoff berth then I’ll have lost more faith in him.
We are a contender, last year if we get 5 games of Zibby playing like himself we are in the playoffs easy. We have cap room unlike last year to make moves at the deadline for reinforcements. I do not think we will make it deep into the playoffs but playoffs are definitely the goal.

I’m worried about the signings that GMs don’t learn from. Ville Leino got that huge contract after a monster playoff season and GMs like to repeat history. Our new signing isn’t as bad as that but he’s already overpaying when every dollar is gonna count. Drury is a smart dude but with those clowns putting the pressure on you never know what a guy will do.

I can buy the italicized maybe, but I do not buy the bolded. Like, at all.

Love this poll. I am losing my mind! Think I've been on these boards more in the past week than the entire 5 years combined. We have such a good nucleus. Drury: Don't overreact! Don't overpay alla Goodrow. Lock up Fox, Kakko, Igor, Chytil. These kids have not reached their potential (Maybe Fox- how can he get any better).
For me our untouchables should be Fox, Lafreniere, Nils, Schneider, Kakko, Panarin.

Nothing about Drury's captaincy instilled confidence for me and it seems like Sather has regained a voice. Bad vibes all around, not feeling great.

I think Ranger fans are going to be calling for Drury's job about as much as Quinns in a fairly short time.

I feel like he reads these boards so he knows what we want but he is going to overpay in free agency and in trades.

I am terrified of him trading for Eichel and what he will give up.

I feel like Drury is going to make some moves this off season that leave people mad and complaining and ripping him apart and then us being a top 3 team in the division next season and potentially going on a run.

The only thing I am worried about is the idea of stepping too far out in front before our youth core is able to catch up.

So far my vote of "have a bad feeling" is turning out true. Drury's first trade is a massive stinker.

What little optimism I had has turned into unbridled fear and uncertainty. My confidence in Drury is not too great. Hopefully in 3 years we look back and look like idiots.

In the end, is trading a RFA who was due for a big raise (that we couldn’t afford long term) for a pick and a serviceable player a bad move? I know we love Buch, but the reality is that we have some special young talent that’ll need to be paid eventually. We also have a ton of depth on the wing. The kids need to play those minutes Buch was playing.
