I actually (quietly) cheered for them in 2000. I respected that team's chemistry so much and the A-line was a pleasure to watch.

My family used to be season ticket holders and I rooted for them when they weren't playing the Rangers for quite a while (like I did most of my life with the Jets and Giants until Rex pissed me off -- although I am glad that Rex stopped being annoying so I can root for them again).

I stopped because of Brodeur's antics and the general nastiness of the fanbase. Back when they played in the Brendan Byrne, you had a number of idiots. But the level of hate and nastiness really came to head in the early 2000s for them. I think it came after their last Cup once they realized no one cared.

I wouldn't want to commiserate with most of their fans today. The fanbase is disgraceful. It makes me sad that I ever enjoyed watching that team do well.

I officially started watching sports seriously in 1998. Since then I have been teased and taunted time and time again by the Jets and Rangers.

The 98 jets up 10-0 then INT and fumbling the game away. A 99 season starts with so much promise only to have Vinny Testaverde shred his achilles. 02 Jets who obliterated the Packers, Pats and Colts 3 weeks in a row., Then get dominated by oakland. In 03Pennington blows out his wrist in the preseason the next year. Another cruel injury tanking a promising season.
In 04 the brutal Doug Brien failure... Reggie Tongue INT, Lamont Jordan 20 yard run, herm settles for another FG and Brien fails again. Freaking woulda been the longest FG ever at Pitts if it had gone in. Then to rub it in the very next season ******* Vinateri breaks the very record that brien failed on.

Two AFC championships in a row.

The 05 NYR losing the division on the last game. Then jagr hurts himself and it was a disaster. Then in 06...game 5 with that piece of dog crap Drury, we had the '09 3-1 series collapse, the 11-12 Rangers putting half of NY in intensive care for heart problems before wilting to the Devs. Then a lockout ruins half the season and two superstars are either injured or out of shape. Another cruel tease.

Now finally FINALLY after all these years of desperately wanting to at least see a favorite team of mine make the Finals/super bowl FINALLY I get to see it happen.

Great post. I admit I am not the biggest hockey fan, I wish I could dedicate more time to the Rangers, but seeing them preform in the face of adversity was so great. The Rangers played their hearts out. Seeing your guys passion is amazing, I can't help but feel happy for you. Definitely felt it when you mentioned me Jets.

WE WANT THE CUP!

Zucc played out of his gourd tonight.

Isles fan here, and very happy for you guys, nice win. :handclap: It will be nice to bring a cup to NY, maybe it will light a fire under Wang's a--- to spend some money, or sell the team to someone who will.

Zucc is a GOD, and along with MSL and McD are the reasons I like watching them prob more than my team...

Vigneault is also a superb coach, it is just amazing to watch basically the same group of players that Torts had turned into an efficient, well-oiled machine.

Good luck in the SCF, it will be tough against either Chi or LA, but MSL and the rest might just find a way.

]Still in shock![/B] What a win, what a series! Now go out and show Sam Rosen that the 94 cup won't last a lifetime!

Me 2. I thought 2011-2012 was their final chance to get to the stanley cup.

AV postgame: "Alain, if somebody told you in october you'd be in the finals what would you say.... -chuckles- Probably would have said What Are Ya Smokin?"

I became a Rangers fan in 93 because Richter played for Wisconsin & we had no local team. The cup run kept me a fan. When I started traveling for work in 98 I lost my desire to be a diehard fan but I kept tabs from a far & tracked their "progress" in the standings.

In 2008 I got back into hockey because of watching the Olympics. I found this site soon after. I'll never forget how excited I was that 2 of the top prospects were playing for Wisconsin!

I've rarely missed a game since.

I found myself very emotional when the clock hit zero. It was very close to the feeling when the Giants won it all in 07.

I think hockey is such a grind that making the finals is a feat in itself & that's why it feels so great.

I just want to thank everyone on this site that's helpful & friendly. I've learned so much from you all.

LGR! 4 more!

Feels good man!!! Still a little surreal but this team deserved it tonight. They dominated!!! Should have won 4-0

I'm still utterly confused how the habs fans are saying its a bettman conspiracy...do they not realize they root for one of the most valuable teams In the NHL???
