Exactly, but these clowns don't even fit into the old, defense-first system.

Sather just sucks at his job and now we have to watch this garbage and hate our lives.

It's just hockey bro. Relax. Enjoy your life. You get one of 'em.

Well, that's the flip side. If they are a gritty in your face team, then there’s no place for Taylor Pyatt, Mats Zuccarello, Derick Brassard, Brad Richards or Benoit Pouliot on this roster.

RangersFans:

We want a team with a strong core

flip

We want Gabby, Richie and Nash.

We want a team that is tough to play against

flip

We want scoring, talent, skills we can see and enjoy. We're not paying for dull hockey dammit!!!

The failure for the Rangers is always in finding the mix. Instead of getting that mix right they completely change tack and move in another direction.

Who gives a **** what the fans want? The video game fans want a change every minute - thats what they deem exciting.

I expect more from the General Manager.

So you'd be cool with a player coming out and saying "Well AV isn't running the type of system I need to play in to succeed"?

Or Sather saying, "well Dolan never fired me so it's his fault"?

You just acknowledged minutes ago that AV bears a decent amount of responsibility for the state of this team...why then is it okay to pass the buck?

And that analogy is terrible. It's not like Sather have him soccer players. He have him NHL hockey players and asked him to win a Stanley cup. Obviously we can all see that the players he was given aren't good enough for a cup, but they are certainly good enough to field a competitive squad that doesn't look like an expansion team.

A 13 year sample size featuring multiple coaches with varying styles is enough to pass the buck...Your arguement seems to be the definition of insanity. Do the same thing over and over expecting different results. Must be the coach...must be the coach....must be the coach....

You're focused on (in the grand scheme of things) minutiae at best.

It does bear mentioning that with Dolan ultimately in charge who's to say we get a good GM after Sather? He may give the next guy another decade of ineptitude. I'd rather not stick with the devil I know in this case though

I didn't realize the fans were running the team.

I'm glad you're not my coworker

It is what is.

If you step back and take the emotion out of this, you can make the argument that Sather and Dolan have done many of the things that A LOT of people round here have been asking for:

Build a home grown core.

Make the Rangers tough to play against/establish an identity.

Bring in more scoring talent.

Get a no non sense coach with a legit reputation for winning.

....and so forth.

But again, it's The New York Rangers and in the end, despite the fact that many of these moves may look good on paper....it will go to hell.

Some organizations do this well, some just don't. I just accept it and have as much fun as I can. NOTHING is worth having the joy sucked out of your life. Especially some hockey team run by a bunch of knuckle heads.

No they don't. But like most businesses, management tries to get a feel for what the customer wants. It should not rule their actions but it's probably an influence to some extent.
The customers will always go to see a winning product

Their business is competitive professional sports. Their customers want wins. Do we really need to focus group that?

That's not necessarily true. A lot of these customers want exciting, wide open, trap with the lead hockey.

A lot of fans have no idea what the difference would between those things are. A lot of fans think a left wing lock is a MMA move.

This fan base hasn't won enough to decide the manner in which they would like to win.

We had a winning product. People were screaming that it was a dull, crappy product. Which it appears that many in management agreed with. At least that's what I've read from articles linked from here.

Look, we're all frustrated. I get that. I've been watching for a long time. Nobody here expected this craptasm. No one saw it coming like this. It's sucks but you can't get too worked up about it.

Agreed. People cried about the coaching.
