If that's the case, then I see Saros staying in Nashville.
Well of course, the "rumor" of him moving was put out by Friedman and some random finnish sites followed it. If Saros moves this summer, the return would have to be insane.

Edit; but as the topic stands, what would be the value of Saros be if traded this summer?

From a Pens perspective, I value him about the same as Hellebyuck. 14OA absolutely in play, and would add to that. Our prospect pool isn't very deep, but I'd be willing to part with Owen Pickering, who was last year's 1st rounder, in the deal as well. Any chance you'll take Granlund back in the deal :) ?

Pittsburgh just doesn't have what it takes to get him. We've already got the 15th pick and Edmonton's why would we trade a Vezina caliber goalie for 14?

It'd take an elite young player or potentially elite prospect to move the needle.

We need an absolute stud young player/prospect or top 5 pick, if you're not offering that we're not moving him.

A Seider, Byfield, Clarke, Nemec, etc.

A team like Pittsburgh or Toronto doesn't have what we want.

Byfield has 8 NHL goals in 100 games.

As of Michael Gallagher it would take 2x 1st rounders + 2-3 prospects just to get the negotiations started. How about Edmonton?
2x 1st
Yamamoto + some prospect like Broberg?

to be honest, if they would get Saros i think they might be set for a great cup run and if you can get its worth it. Yamamoto would need a change, might work in Nashville. The firsts would anyway be late rounders most likely. Not sure Nashville would do it tho.

Preds already have "quantity" in terms of futures.

I think the only thing we'd trade Saros for at this point is squarely in the "quality" category. Like a top-5 (yes, you heard me, 5) overall draft pick. Or equivalent player who literally projects as an NHL superstar.

I don't even think a player like Nemec necessarily fits. Positionally, I would probably narrow that "projectable superstar" right down to "projectable superstar center". Or at least, if it's not a center, it's an even tighter restriction on the quality of winger or defenseman that would fit. I'm not sure Nemec would meet the threshold. Maybe there is no prospect defenseman who would.

And... AGAIN... no team is going to do this. So it's kind of pointless to continue discussing it. Folks out there just have to remember that we see Saros as our best player. And cheap. And we assume he's easily retained past his current contract. So he's like a 7-9 years asset for us, vs. only 2 years for anybody else, and probably still our best player for a good 3-5 of those years, whereas you probably think your team already has a better player? We don't, and there's nobody on the horizon to unseat him. He's our difference-maker most nights. I don't think there are many players in the entire league who could help us win more games than what Saros does.

Patrick Roy didn't even return such a ridiculous amount.

Goalies don't get those kinds of returns.

If Trotz put out that is the asking price than Trotz isn't trading him and this is just a circus.

Nobody is paying that.

Isn't Yamamoto close to busting?
Those first will be too late for us to be interested, we've already got five in the next three drafts.

Nashville doesn't have a reason to move him, if we're moving him it's to get quality, otherwise we keep him. He'll most likely either re-sign with us or move on as a UFA.

Don't see Saros moved for anything reasonable, Nashville would rather choose to ride him to UFA and let Askarov take over than trade him for his "leaguewide value".

The ask is McDavid, Draisaitl, 7 first rounders, the portion of the 50/50 raffles that usually goes to charity and the naming rights to your first born son.

And if you don’t like it tough. We’ll be over here at the wrong side of the lottery picks for the next 8 years.

Well the proposal was shot down...

What's the goaltending plan for Nashville?

Not being a jerk.

Saros/Lankinen 23-24
Saros/Askarov 24-26
Askarov takes over in 26.

I think that's a reasonable best case scenario. We shouldn't seriously consider moving Saros unless A) some other GM gets real stupid and offers a gross overpay. (B) Askarov proves he is ready to be the #1.

Didn't say u wouldn't get anything of quality... you're just not getting the ridiculous ask that is rumored.

Late firsts, busting wingers and ok prospects aren't quality. We need a top 25 prospect in the league or a rising star player.
That's not ridiculous for a Vezina caliber goalie in his prime on a great contract, Saros is a top 5 goalie in the game, teams don't give them away just because another team asks.

The ridiculous ask might just be their way of saying "he isnt up for trade". Some people dont know how to take "no" for an answer so you throw out a completely ridiculous amount. If they meet it, great. If not, you are content in what you've got.

Seems to of worked with the Jeannot trade. Sometimes GMs willingness to try and compete now will surprise you
