Sarnia Sting 2024 25 Season Thread Part Iii

Sucks to be view it this way, but I am in the same boat.

If I had to guess we finish 8th lol.

OS - @ BAR, KIT & vs GUE.

SSM - @ SBY, vs SAG & SAR.

SAR - @ WSR, vs FLT, @ SSM.
Just have to lose out and hope Owen sound beats Guelph lol. I really hope we don’t finish 8th. Preferably i hope we finish 9th if not then 7th. But I have a feeling it’s likely 8th.

Well Letang should be back that should help things! Lol I'm sure a few line changes after 2 good efforts isn't that the norm.
Think Maillet goes against Windsor and then Surzycia gets Friday OA home game.
I'm hoping to see Simpson again before season ends

8th would be the worst-case scenario. I know people don't agree with me but I want them to finish 7th. The young guys need to learn how to play playoff hockey. Windsor is a very tough hockey team but I think the Sting would be able to play a tight game or two against them. Seeing the level that top players like Greentree and Protas play on a night-to-night basis would be good for the rookies (especially Di Iorio and Edwards). If they lose to WSR & FLT, I'd want them to lose on Sunday. Until then, I'll be cheering for them to win because I think missing the playoffs back-to-back years will create bad habits next season
It's tough. Ive said before not wanting to make it is partly for selfish reasons. I don't wanna watch London run all over us, be cocky about it (they'll have a right to be) & hear how awful Sarnia is etc. Just not a fun week whatsoever.

As ive also said I struggle to see what they'll take from games that'll be over by the midway point of every game. I agree vs WSR it's more likely they hang in there, but at the same time the Sting team that's been playing most nights as of late will get obliterated by a team that talented.

Another week feels like a joke honestly when they've been this bad for this long. But you aren't wrong b2b misses isn't good for guys like Brown Hurt Barr who'd suffer thru b2b non playoff years & guys like Di Iorio Edwards Beamish Karimov Manza wouldn't get to experience the difference in emotion & level of play it brings.

No matter what I view the season as an embarrassment so I'd prefer leaving it at least feeling like we got something (a top 1, 2, 3, 4 pick) opposed to 4 lopsided playoff games.

If they go out their & earn it fair play & good on them, but id be lying if I said I wasn't going into the weekend wanting to come 9th.

who knows at this point with the goalies. it's been so mishandled I could see either guy going all 3 games lmao.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) Simpson is in GOJHL playoffs with Cambridge. So he isn't available at least for another week. would've liked to see him again too.

Good F*cking god this interview is as bad as it gets. Feels like he's speaking directly to us LOL.

The LAST thing I wanna read is this has been a positive season, there are good things etc..

Alarming on so many levels.

Only fun thing is the last part. Seems to really indicate they will be signing a few of their draft picks from recent years that are BCHL/USHL.
haha when I read this last week I almost spit out my coffee. I was coming on here all hot and horny ready to rip Seca a new one but thankfully the boards were down and I've since cooled off lmao. But holy crap, what a delusional man. How do you even make comments such as that? I get it if you had some sort of valid evidence to back up statements like that but this team has done absolutely nothing to validate the comments Seca made. Please name me one thing this organization can hang it's hat on and deem an accomplishment from this season? You couldn't be more right about Seca sounding like a politician, that's exactly what this little interview was. Beat around the bush but never address the dire issues head on. This is what you do when you don't have a solution to the problem.

Really was hoping Seca wasn't one of those "I'll die on this hill" before he admits he's wrong type of guys but that interview really hurts his credibility. Zero self reflection or accountability from management and staff.

I'm not sure I see any good to come from this team making the playoffs so I'm all for continuing the trend of shit hockey for the next 3 games to ensure that. We've said this many times over the years, but just get to the off season, fix the coaching issues, hope for at least a top 2 pick in the draft and try again next year. This will go down as one of the worst seasons I've witnessed in my time as a Sting fan.

Definitely the Poorest coaching season I have ever witnessed as a fan. Too much to list but we all know what the issues are.
No coach at any level goes 2-21 for a stretch then 5-15 in same season and keeps their job with the pp firing at 10%? Come on
9th is spot I hope we get anything higher is just another wrong step in the entirely wrong stepped season.
New owner hopefully new era!

I've seen them ALL, you must have forgotten or weren't around for the Shawn Camp years . He was brought in as a supposed genius. Lasted 2 years , 33 wins total

I forget who the staff was at the time but I remember hearing rumours of management purposely drafting bad players from 2002-2004

Obviously the focus is on this weekend, but a name thats caught my attention for the OHL draft is Landon Jackman. I guess he wasnt on the USNDTP list which was a surprise & ppl in the draft thread who watch these kids say he's a top talent.

Believe he's the son of former NHLer Barret Jackman & he currently plays for Little Caesars who is coached by Legwand.

Big (6'3") winger who I guess is pretty dominant, but is a bit inconsistent.

Honestly feels like a slam dunk if we have him rated around where we pick.

1, we could use a big, power forward type. esp with how WSR is built.

2, being coached by Legwand so we have immediate knowledge on him.

3, Seca constantly talks about being from a good family, work ethic etc so I could see Seca loving him being from an NHL family

Pure speculation from me & ive never seen him play. But feels like something that could legitimately happen.

SSM wins in Sudbury tonight. That puts them 3 ahead of SAR&OS.

I'd say that about closes the door for 7th. SAG is in SSM & I imagine Misa, Parekh, Chernyshov all sit.

OS in Barrie tomorrow. See who the Colts dress. Same goes for us vs WSR.

perhaps this could be another Edwards situation where we are able to snag a 1st round talent in round 3 ish.

With him being left of the USA list might make it more likely he goes high. Especially with the NCAA rule change.

I'm so intrigued to see how teams attack these USA kids & their committments or their mind games.

I'd be way more willing to call their bluff now. And what do you do if a kid says I'll come but I plan on leaving at 18 or 19?

Should be a wild draft. Look forward to it. Especially with Sarnia having two 2nds which they rarely have.

Welp, this miserable season is coming to a close this weekend. Starts in Windsor where I imagine we see a lighter Spits team than usual. Already down Greentree to suspension & Mathurin to injury I'd guess we see another 2-3 guys sit with them locked into 2nd.

Their B squad is probably still better than ours, but if they mail it in you'd like to see think Sarnia would have a real chance at a win with the urgency, desperation they should be playing with.

Cant wait to see who they start in net lmao. I'd guess we see the same lines and pairs as last week since they sorta worked lol.

See what this team is made of I guess!

Don't remind me lol. My first year with season tickets was 04/05 when Camp was hired. I was fairly young and drawn to the physicality of the game back then. I could put up with the losses as a newer fan after watching guys like Caprara, Haley, Clune and Mashinter beat the crap outta guys on a nightly basis. 20 years later and not much has changed except the game itself.

Kody Musseleman....LOL. I've always said he was by far and away the worst Sarnia Sting draft pick of all time. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but If I remember correctly we picked Musselman over our now Assistant Coach Dustin Jeffery who went the very next pick. Dibenedetto and Beleskey were even picked after Musselman lmao.

You and I both know we are finishing 8th and playing LDN first round. Just accept it now lol. :surrender
I hope your wrong lol.
Honestly though, if they do get in and actually play hard and compete and not completely suck then great. But if they get in and drop a few spots in the draft just to get demolished then I say no way, lose out the rest of the season and get the highest draft pick possible.
You'd love for it to be one of those underdog playoffs for them but the two teams they potentially will face are so many levels above them in every category that its not even close.
I say lose because thats the only positive and realistic scenario here.
