So if the season ended today Sting would be in a tie with Flint for 8th in the standings. The 8th place spot cannot be determined by a mathematical scenario. So Sting and Flint would have to play a 1 game playoff to determine 8th place. So at this point Sting are sitting in a playoff position.

If this team makes the playoffs it'll be a nice little achievement for all of them. 99% of ppl had us just not missing but coming dead last. So for them, especially after trading away Gaudreau, Twins, Vilmanis were to make it that would be something they could be a little proud of.

They'd get decent experience. First hand get to see what it takes to win. If their terrible years are still playoff years then that would be a significant improvement from the previous 29 years. I have no doubt if we pick 5th we'll get a prospect we'd come to be big fans of.

All that aside. There seems to be a gap atop the draft. So having a 50% chance at a top 2 pick could be monstrous for this team. Potentially an immediate impact F while also getting a future MVP level F for when we wanna go for it. that's big for any team but especially one that lacks talented Fs like we do. Not to mention we could be picking in the top 5 of the import draft opposed to maybe somewhere in the teens.

Am I as miss the playoffs heavy as I was just even 2 weeks ago? Not really. But I'd still prefer it.

Doesn't sound great for MacDonald. Not sure we'll see him again. Local kids can't catch a break on this team man.

Micheal Denney with a goal and 2 Assists last night. Kinda starting to lose hope of us signing him.
Doubt we see it this season. They have 2 extra Fs as is. Don't want Sim, Lominac & another guy sitting. Don't wanna Denney in to play 4th line either.

Hopefully he doesn't sign elsewhere and can come to camp & earn a spot. Would love to have his speed & shot on the team but we don't know about the rest of his game either.

Same goes for Soares. Always good to have competition in camp. Hopefully we have a lot of it.

Not best 1st period we have seen of late, interesting kukumberg gets the healthy scratch again tonight? 12 and 24 are flying in this 1st period hope more join them.

Absolutely no energy in that period from the Sting. Would be 3-0 if not for a couple of big saves from Surzycia. Not a good play from Fischer on the one goal they gave up. You have to get your body in front of the puck. It can't get by you that easily

Joe Monette ladies and gentlemen. He runs Filak leading to a Windsor goal. Yep u heard that right. And then they let the game go way out of hand. What a garbage hit on Bridgewater. Good on Kostuch.

Thoughts with Filak. That was scary to watch. He was in alot of distress.

On a lighter note nice to see Brown get one.

Hopefully Filak is alright. Really scary situation there. Hopefully the team can go out and get a W for him in the third

Most importantly hopefully Filak & Bridgewater are okay. 🙏

As for the game.. That one felt good. Down Moses, Filak, Barr, Bridgewater, MacDonald they find a way to win a really hostile/emotion filled game.

What a weekend from Surzycia & Chartier. Surzycia got them this one. He's on a heater. They weren't losing those shootouts.

Brown sure does love playing Windsor. He was awesome tonight. For the first time he showed some real bite, too after 11&17 went down. Seem to make him play even better. You love to see that.

I guess I'm a Hughston Hurt fan account now cause I can't stop praising his game. I can't remember the last 16 yr old (that wasn't super highly touted/high pick) that's come in here & played as much as he does and done it this well. So many blocked shots. Throws the body. And had 1A in all 3 games. Gonna be a monster.

We've piled on them but full marks to the vets, especially Way & Schwindt. They've been terrific lately & u see how much leadership they have by watching them on the bench talking with the rookies. Way will be the first guy in to stick up for any of his teammates too.

I thought 93-10-55 had their best game in weeks if not months. I respect a lot that they've accepted the 4th line role & are playing with tremendous energy, grit, spark. Not as easy as it sounds especially for guys that were scorers at lower levels.

The D as a whole has really, really tightened up. Even down to 5D multiple times lately. We've been hard on Letang & Co but theyve got this group player a helluva lot better structurally & with much more energy.

This team clearly isn't gonna roll over & accept 9th. March is pretty daunting for level of opponent but I respect and appreciate the hell out of the efforts we've been seeing from this group. Seems small now but that's how u set a standard moving forward.

Well I still don't want to make the playoffs. But I'm really happy we won that game.

If they make it they'll have earned it & I can cope with that.

Sidenote I learned today there is different odds in the lottery.

Last gets 40%
2nd last 30%
3rd last 20%
4th last 10%
For the top pick.

Wasn't a pretty game by any stretch of the imagination but they got the win. Awesome to see them get 6/6 points this weekend. Surzycia was great again. Really kept the team in it with a couple big saves in the first when they didn't have their legs yet. He's played his way back into the OA conversation for next year. Great to see the team battle back after Filak and Bridgewater went down. Really impressive to do that playing with 9F/5D at one point. Schwindt got it all started with his wicked wrister. A great drive to the net and screen by Omeri on that goal. Nice to see Brown get on the board again with his great shot. From his celebration you could tell his scoring drought was weighing on him a bit. Really nice three way play from Brown/Wainwright/Way on the PP for the go-ahead goal. Great move by Brown to get around the d-man and bank it over to Way who puts a nice pass out to Wainwright in front who can't finish but Way is right there to tap in the rebound. Special teams were really good, going 1/2 on the PP and 3/3 on the PK. The vets stepped up in the SO with Sikic scoring and Schwindt getting the winner. These boys want to make it to the playoffs and I'll never complain about being able to watch more Sting hockey!

Seeing some of the highlights now. My god how id love to have Manny Paiva be our PBP guy. Actual emotion for big plays, goals.

Nick Surzycia tied Parker Van Buskirk 10th all-time on the Sting's all-time wins list with his 28th career victory tonight
Won't lie. Pretty sad 28 puts him top 10. Lol. But he doesn't need to tell ppl the amount just that he's in it haha.

Buskirk was my first "favorite" goalie. Loved those yellow pads he wore. Hard not to like surzycia with how hard he battles. Apparently he's just like that behind the scenes too. Tremendous work ethic.

It's really impressive that he'll be on this list considering his journey. 2nd round U18 pick, played Jr. C the year after he was drafted, battled to win the backup job last season, and is the starter this year. Not surprised to hear that he has a tremendous work ethic. Must be a great example for all the young kids we have on the team

Decided to look it up. Sarnia ranks 4th in U17 points in the league so far.

1. Barrie: 82
2. Kitchener: 80
3. Niagara: 76
4. Sarnia: 71

Considering we picked at the end of each round & KIT/NIA both had two 1st rounders that's pretty impressive for us. I'm sure it's the same for those teams but had Brown not missed so much time gotta think they'd be near Barrie's number. Not to mention 2 of our higher picks were used on D.

'07 class definitely has the makings of a great one. Fingers crossed we can convince at least one of Kosiba, Beamish or Quinlan to come.

I've been feeling bad for 12 as he should be on top 2 lines and get more support offensively, but he has been quietly moving up to 3rd on team in scoring, 2 pts behind 25, he is going to be fun to watch next year playing bigger role.
4th line has been solid lately with 55 10 93 and mix in odd vet for shift.
Going to be more important as things progress if we want to make it into playoffs. That would be big for these young guys to see the speed and what it will take in future.

Still have fingers crossed for a REAL D COACH next season that can really help to tutor the D make them something special next couple years.
Surzycia is quickly entering back in OA for next year discussion

DOUCETTE 1st line RW
FILAK 2nd line C
SURZYCIA 50/50 goalie split

I personally like the 23-12-24 trio. No it doesn't give Wainwright elite linemates, but he & Brown seem to play well together and Moses is such a bull he can help them do the things they aren't great at (board work, physical play, screen the goalie). Thought those 3 had a great weekend. Pretty reliable defensively too with how hard they all work & 12s speed on the backcheck. Me thinks he's our next captain.

But yes very quietly is somehow gonna finish 2nd in team scoring despite missing all that time lol. Idk who it says more for but still a great sign for the coming years that he's gonna be a major PT producer.

Yesterday was 93-10-55 best game in a bit. Seems like they've accepted that physical, chippy 4th line role. As I said last night I can respect that. Some guys wouldn't especially as three rookies. Letang must too because he gave Doherty PP time late in the 3rd & played them with under 5 minutes.

It'll really come down to Maillet & Chartier I feel. If they are legit & deserve to play OHL games next year then unfortunately u gotta move off surzycia as an OA when they are 18. But if 1 or both aren't good enough then he'll very likely be back.
