Conical. I'm only half joking that the league needs to look into those 2 making all these trades.

LDN is giving them average to below average OHLers & NIA (a bad team) keeps giving them 2nds & 3rds + a kid they took in RD2! Insanity & pure idiocy.
London is probably giving them money under the table in each trade. London has a ridiculous amount of money to spend.

Wouldn't be surprised if LDN wants Simpson more. LDN kid but also had a way better yr than Gaudreau had.

Hopefully for our sake they are asking to much so u come to us haha
Gaudreau probably goes to London and puts on a god damn clinic for them. I could seee it.

I was typing out a bit of a rant about how we never (literally ever) seem to have two good seasons in a row, but going over the roster i actually think there's a chance they are finally set up to do it, for once.

Obviously this year ain't gonna be so hot, especially with Wainwright's injury & hopefully a Gaudreau & Vilmanis trade at some points. But i do see potential for it.

As we've talked about the hope is they are pretty set on D moving forward. Can't be 100% sure, but i think it would be fairly surprising if in the coming seasons we are talking about how weak or how few D they have. Even if say Campbell, Bridgewater, Omeri & none of their mid-late RD picks develop well/surprise don't pan out (i think at least 1 will but never know) you'd still have Fischer, Young, Barr & Hurt the next 3 seasons. Great place to start let alone if 1or2 of the others guy pan out.

In net Chartier looks legit, but we'll find out as the yr goes on if he's the future in net.

Up front is where we gotta hope for some things. Wainwright & Brown are probably the only two you can say confidently will be T6 players next yr & the following season. But for next yr at least you can add Kukumberg, LeBlanc & Filak to those 2 & hopefully, a top 5-7 OHL pick & a pretty high import pick which can be pretty big. As mentioned i quite like Hall but i think he'll just be a super reliabe 3C. Maybe be a 35 Pt guy next yr who's good net front on PP2. If they do well with their picks all of a sudden they aren't to bad up front.

To me there's 2 guys who are huge moving forward & it's Doherty & Lominac. Doherty has the skills & skating to be a real good OHLer. Can he piece it all together tho? Lominac is the other. I like the skills, creativity & shot he has. But he's a touch small & needs to make decisions quicker. Both 17 so this yr will be massive for them physically & maturity wise.

If they can hit it would put us in a solid spot next yr to where we can field a solid top-9 & & the yr after return a lot of firepower (Wainwright, Brown, Doherty, Lominac, Import, 2024 OHL 1st rounder + draft another import w/kukumberg moving on). Plus whoever else they get via trade, FA signing, USA singings to go with a really promising Dcore who should just get better & better as this yr goes on, into next yr where they all have experience then the yr after where there all "vets"

A lot of IFs, specifially up front with the 2 i mentioned & the import pick & OHL pick, but the potential is there for back to back seasons of actual optimism, especially the 2025-2026 season.

You know it's hockey season when i'm back to posting novels, haha. Agree or think i'm an idiot? Rant = over.

I think your pretty accurate in what your saying. History will tell you otherwise, but there really is no reason this team can't be good next year, then really good the year after that like you say. I've been pretty happy with Sarnia's drafting the last few years, so I'd expect that to continue as long as Seca is our guy. Like you said, Sarnia should be set up to get a top 5-7 pick in next years draft, along with a decent pick for the import draft to replace Sandis next year. There certainly appears to be avenues for Sarnia management to take to build a contender for the 25/26 season.

I think what is most promising for that to actually happen, is Sarnia's apparent strength in goal. We all know championship teams are built from the goalie out. Sarnia has been a bit sneaky the last 5-6 years with it's development of goaltenders. Fazio, Gaudreau, Thornton, Surzycia and Chartier shows early promise. This is a huge feat that this franchise struggled with mightily since the mid 2000's imo. Add in this young and promising defense with a few years of experience under their belts, and you got a pretty good looking team for the 25/26 season to go for it all. Obviously the offense appears to be the biggest question mark, but I've always felt adding offense is easier then adding solid defense and goaltending. Seca also has shown that he is capable of adding players of high caliber when needed.

Let's see if Sarnia can escape the 5 year rebuilds lol.

You would have to put me on watch if London went and won a championship with our goalie that was suppose to win us one last year.....I just want LDN to trade for him and then lose in the west final like us lol.
Oh C'mon u know what's happening if he ends up in London lol. "Your MVP of the 2024 OHL playoffs, Ben Gaudreau!!"

Probbaly break a record for sv% & shutouts lmao. Just be to on brand. But hopefully he plays well for us. Has looked good in camp. Is off to TB now.

Agreed. Ive mentioned him before but I believe Franky Palazeez (probbaly butchered that!) Is a huge weapon for them. He trains a ton of u15 goalies in Ontario. He gets to see them all. It's how they knew Thornton was a stud. Did a lot of good work with Fazio, Langevin, Thornton.

Lookin around the league, I do worry if Gaudreau doesn't go to London he may not have a spot to go to..

SAG believes in Oke. But if he sucks they have 3 good, important OAs already. They'd like target a 19 yr old G.

OS has George&Votary + 3 good OAs. GUE has 3 OAs + drafted import G.

SSM & ER would be our best shot, but SSM believes in Schenkel & are still TBD on if they'd wanna add. Erie has an OA G but he's coming off a horrific yr. Maybe if he struggles again they look elsewhere, but who knows if they'd wanna spend assets on that.

KIT, FLT, WSR obviously not happening. NB, PBO, OSH, MISS, NIA (never count them out!), KGN, BAR, OTT not gonna happen. SBY to many OAs already + import G. Brantford wouldn't make much sense.

Obviously a lot can change with an injury or somebody surprisingly struggling, but I'm a bit scared there could be no market if LDN goes Simpson route. Could end up being surzcyia dealt to a team needing a backup or unsure about their starter as an insurance policy.

the overage goalie market is never as good as most think. i dont know if many teams would even call on an oa goalie.

Erie doesn’t have an overage goalie. 2 04s and an 06.
You'd be correct.. haha. Feels like Lalonde has been around forever.

Your and my idea of scarey are very different lol.
Scared was probably the wrong word, but he's one of our only guys who can fetch a return potentially. Something we really need moving forward. And we need to move him or surzcyia to give Chartier playing time

Yah I wasn't expecting a ton of options. Was just hoping thered be a couple more. A lot of good OAs this yr it looks like. Might be one of the better years for depth in goal for the league in a little. Tho not hard with how weak it's been as of late.

last two overage goalie trades?

constantini - 2nd and 6th
guzda - 3rd and 5th

everyone says london but they have a very good 05 goalie, at some point they need to let him start. barrie desperately needs a goalie but have too many good 03s to add another 03.

i could see the soo because i dont think their 04 is as good as they think, but other then that?

Everyone in Saginaw thought Lennox was gone last year but the market wasn’t there. Gaudreau could end the same way.

Yah I can see that happening, too. Tho I think SAR would try harder to move him than SAG who had Bloom & Mintyukov to sell.

GL this yr. Liking your lineup on paper tho I think u need to add some grit up front. Should be a fun team to watch.

I know nothing about him, but me thinks they saw how badly they needed some size & hopefully some physicality after those LDN games.

Doesn't look like he'll produce much at all but they desperately needed somebody to push back physically. Hopefully he can do that.

Seca on Moses. He compares it in part to the Ritchie trade. He feels he has some real untapped potential & in a bigger role they hope they can find it. Big, good skater & tenacious. Right shot, too.

Let's hope they can continue there knack for finding guys who just needed more of a chance.

Also that update on Wainwright is WAY better than it looked. Week 2 week & he'll be back sooner than later. Dodged a bullet there, thankfully.

Sting sign Luecke.
Brilliant! 6th guy from the most recent class to sign. Seca said they loved what they came away with & it shows with them signing so many.

Totally agree with his assessment too that Luecke looks like a kid just scratching the surface. Has a lot of room to fill out but showed a nice well rounded game in the scrimmages.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it on here already but Christopher Soares signed with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens of the OJHL last week. A name to keep an eye on throughout the season

Be interesting to see how he does. Hopefully has a great start & Sarnia signs him. But after Luecke signing & the Moses trade he might be hard pressed. For this yr anyways.

Had to know one was eventually gonna be moved on D. Logic said Campbell. I personally just wanted to see him play a bit before we pulled the trigger but that isn't fair to him or the other guys who'd be sitting.

5th + 8th is a fine return. Would've loved a 4th but can understand why that's to rich for KIT when nobody really knows if he can be an every day OHLer. Probably not a coincidence both picks are in 2026.

With Hoover not cleared & Campbell gone that leaves

MacDonald, Barr, Hurt, LeBlanc, Young, Omeri & Fischer.

I had a feeling Campbell was going to be the odd man out. I wonder if this is a sign that Hoover may return.
