Agree, the Mast on the 5 on 3 was the dumbest coaching call. Give Malyavin the reigns on the PP. He seems to be the only one who doesn’t cough the puck up consistently in the offensive zone.

this goaltending situation needs to be figured out. The back and fourth each game is toxic. Trade one of them. I’m willing to bet there’s more than a few teams looking. Both Thornton and Gaudreau deserve to be full time #1’s.

Disappointed with what Letang has this team doing. That stupid drop pass on the PP needs to be squashed. Brutal

I'll cut him some slack cause so many teams do it. I hate it as well. Yah few more starts for Thornron & teams will be calling if not already. He's a stud.

My hope is we send Thornton to Barrie for Punnet and a pick or 2 and get rid of Supryka

They are probably rotating goalies to get Thornton’s value to move him sooner rather than later. And as for the drop pass on the powerplay like 90% of teams both junior and nhl do it. I’m not the biggest fan of it especially not every single time.

I'm not for the idea of trading Thornton just for the sake of trading him you have to let other teams see the value he can bring to their team and then get a great return for him not just a medicore one like you'd be getting right now. First, if you traded Thornton you're backup would be Dylan Grover who from what I saw in the preseason game vs. PBO is not ready for the OHL. Next, the Sting give up a ton of shots per game (38 shots/game) and you don't want either goalie to burn out at the end of the season or get injured because they're facing too many shots. Finally, what if Gaudreau makes the WJC team as the 3rd goalie and you've traded Thornton then what do you go to Grover and DeKoning for 8-10 games. That's a recipe for disaster!

To touch on some other things. Supryka stinks. We should have kept Kammerer or Nolet instead. Guy, Hill, Namestnikov, O'Donnell, Tarasevich need to step it up and provide some secondary scoring outside of Voit and Burke. Malyavin needs to be running the PP. The 5 on 3 setup was awful today. Mast should never have been out there and Voit shouldn't be at the point because he doesn't have a shot that get through to the net. Their PP stinks because they have no perimeter threat. (Dann is probably their best) Man, I miss that Perreault one-timer on the PP! Sorry for the ranting. Just another disappointing game from the Sting.

hey fellas. I see a lot of negativity and sadly it's deserved. All around just a very painful game to watch. Sarnia was dominated in every aspect of the game but goaltending. Thornton looks like a stud in net. So, we basically have two #1 goalies. Sting are going to struggle to score goals this year..... they got their only goal on a 2-0 turnover. Sting have zero offensive creativity. I still see people commenting on the lack of crowd size.... do you really blame people for not wanting to go spend $25 on a ticket and $8 a beer to watch the equivalent of the Detroit Lions? I was reading the Stings banners and my friends and I were talking about how pathetic it is that they only have 2 division banners in 27 years. Us fans who continue to support this joke of a franchise deserve a tax break from the city or something lol. Also, the renovations to the bar/restaurant are hideous. Looks like I was walking into a hospital. So cheaply done.

Poor management, bad decision making (trades, drafting) and also some bad luck have all led to the city of Sarnia's fan base being given mediocre at best quality of hockey to watch and support over the years. I could go through the last five drafts and mention our needs versus what we selected and make my point. It's hard being a sting fan but I always will be. Man wouldn't it be nice if they could just put a solid team together for once. Even the years they played ok and made the playoffs they've always been second best. Sad

They should take this year as a growing year and play the heck out of the young guys and come back next year with a solid core. Unfortunately coaches and GM's are always trying to win now to their own resumes.
The team plays too many vets who are good OHL players but not top prospects. You have Dann, ODonell, Voit, Namestikov, Filak, McIntyre, and MacDonnel to build around and become a great core upfront. And I also think the younger D and Mast are also a good group. I hate to say it, but the 3 overagers are not game changers at all. Trade them away and bring back Degurse as he was shafted this year.

from what I've seen so far.... the core you mentioned isn't very good. Unless guys take a massive step forward this team isn't gonna be any good next year either. I know its early but it's kinda troubling that our last two first round picks have combined for 0 pts so far this season.

Just watched Letang's presser. Pretty much nailed what went wrong i thought. He definitely seems frustrated that they can't play consistently.

London & Owen Sound next week. It's early but gotta come away with points. Can't start off with a W then lose 5or6 in a row.

Crowd wasn’t great lastnight, but I think it’s due to the proof of vaccine and covid,London hasn’t came close to a sell out yet which is very very rare, and missasauga had 1200 people lastnight sarnia had a thousand more.

Same in the NHL. Even the Leafs & Habs aren't selling out. Imagine its a mix of ppl aren't comfortable yet attending & ppl dont wanna pay during a pandemic.

My love for this franchise has been on a steady decline for a few years. So tired of the saying "maybe next year". How many times have we been optimistic about a team going into a season only to be let down by the end of it? I've been going to games 16 years and I've only ever witnessed the sting get out of the 2nd round twice. That's scary.

Every other team is starting to gel and since that Windsor win to kick off the season, we have stayed in preseason/training camp mode while others are now passing us with ease in the standings and any team we have faced since our first game have completely walked all over us. The only reason we aren't losing games by 4-5 goals is because of our goaltending. Every other aspect of this teams game has been a dumpster fire.

gotta be honest if I was offered a free ticket I likely wouldn't go.
One of the youngest teams in the league, growing pains, takes a while….. I remember we finished 2nd in the conference a few years back and got beat in the first round buy a hot team with a great goalie. We could be that hot team with a great goalie in the second half. Either way nobody will miss you at the rink lol.

Well this franchise can’t afford to keep losing its fan base. I’d be concerned if I were the owner of a team and had to sit there and watch long time supporters of the team stop spending money. This franchise doesn’t have the luxury to lose season ticket holders like others might.

It is sad but let's be real this team has rarely been a contender. They don't put the money or the energy into building a real solid team. They have talent but have
failed to put together the proper pairings. I don't see much chemistry out there at all in the lines they have going on. Aces are not in their places and way too much rope given to some that have not earned it. Hope they figure out or it's going to be a extra long season.

This makes total sense to me. The one thing that concerns me is the last time we were in this sort of situation, it was Fazio and Fulcher, and I don’t recall getting anything significant for Fulcher.

Yes, attendance down everywhere. Knights, in the last 2 home games, have capacity of roughly 86% (7820 of 9010). If you end up moving Thornton, hope you guys fleece the interested team. Punnett has yet to meet expectations so maybe you can get a better return elsewhere. It will be interesting to see how the goalie situation gets resolved. Sting could very well be the only team with 2 bonafide #1 goalies in a year where having just 1 appears to be a luxury.

If accumulating points is what it takes for Punnett to meet the expectations of a 1st round pick, he probably does not playing for the Colts this season. But from what I’ve seen this season so far, he is definitely above replacement level. I would take the potential growth over three seasons of Punnett plus any picks attainable in exchange for having the luxury of a second starting caliber goalie.

I was looking at the attendance of the games the other night, sting are on par with the majority of the league, only two teams that had noticeably bigger attendances were London and Kitchener. Everyone else was in between 2000-3000 range except missasauga 1200. So if sting are doing bad the majority of the league is with them.

I’m sure it has a lot to do with the need to mask up to be in the stands (as well as the shoddy hockey being played by the sting). After attending a couple of home games, I have a newfound appreciation for the folks who have been working public-facing jobs for the past 20 months who have to spend their whole work day masked up. You guys & gals are heroes.

Its not really the number of butts in the seats it's the % drop from their previous years averages. Kitchener I think is about 70% from previous yrs. Probably due to the STH base being older and more cautious.
