Samsonov - Why not us?

It seems every time we have had a player with any potential, as soon as they moved on they reached it elsewhere.

I am here to ask, why not us for a change? A first round pick, formerly in the same tier of goalie prospect as Shesterkin and Sorokin. Goalies always take more time to develop. Why can't this guy become a true starter for us?

one thing we know is dubas is a stats guy and he didnt fall in the trap of overpaying average goaltending in campbell.

Vasilevskiy is obviously a ridiculous comparison, but I'd settle for the poor man's version.

I'm bullish on Samsonov and thought his signing was way better than the Murray trade. But let's temper things just a bit -- this performance means squat.

I would say:
Verhaeghe, Kadri, Brown, Marchement, Moore, Barrie, Barabanov, Ritchie

Kadri more so just exploded last season so on second thought wouldn’t count him but the rest are all examples of this

I think he can. I pushed for Blackwood in the off season and he was on my list because he's you,ng he's shown tremendus potential in his first couple seasons and I felt like a lot of his struggles were due to the Devils being awful and I still feel that way.

A lot of those reasons I had Blackwood on my list also apply to Samsomov, I will admit he was not on my list because I didn't realize he was an RFA and I had I certainly would not have expected Washington to leave him unqualified.

But a lot of the same reasons I like Blackwood apply to Samsomov.

He's young at just, he's shown tremendus potential at points in the NHL, particularly as a rookie.

The upside is incredible.

He was certainly on a better team than Blackwood was but they are getting old, this team is much younger.

I think Samsomov could be a huge steal.

I hope he can manage it. It can definitely go either way. But the potential and opportunity is there. We're talking about a young goalie with pedigree and the potential to reach legitimate heights. Now he has to actually do it and has shown the ability to not manage it. But he'll get his chances here and all the support he could basically ask for to make it happen.

It would be fun. Legitimately be a fun thing to see this guy blossom here and suddenly things look really solid in net for a long time. Doesn't mean it will happen. But it could.

One thing I like, he’s put the pressure on himself to prove his value, with only taking one year. I like that moxy anyways.
