Samsonov trash talking Ullmark in his instagram comments

Didn't like Samsonov in Toronto... not very good positional goalie, looked like he was guessing often. I said the same thing after game 1 as Ullmark did... "I would've ran with Woll". So when Ullmark basically called out Samsonov and said he cost them the series it’s not like he was wrong. Samsonov went 0-4 against Swayman in the playoffs last year and he was absolute garbage compared to Woll (and Swayman). Had Samsonov beat Swayman once the Leafs win the series but he couldn’t.

That said, I also understand why Samsonov was pissed because why is Ullmark calling him out? Ullmark always sucked in the playoffs and the one game he played against Toronto last year in the playoffs was Samsonov’s only win against Boston. It would make sense for Swayman to call him out, as he’s the one that actually beat him.. but Ullmark played one game and lost and he’s the one taking shots.

Ullmark vs Samsonov is scheduled for today so it’s nice to see some players that hate each other, at least one of them does. The NHL fails at marketing it though, the NBA would be all over this as they love the drama and use it to their advantage.

Woll's saves above expected was high in the season I believe, while Samsonovs were low. Woll also was spectacular the playoffs before vs Florida. Who knows why Keefe ran with shaky Samsonov.

Woll was not very good down the stretch last season after coming back from injury, while Samsonov had bounced back reasonably well from his early season struggles.

Keefe should have moved off him after game 1 (or at the very least after game 3) but Samsonov had earned the first start over Woll.

Anyway, hope Sammy dominates tonight.
