He has not been the player he was advertised to be. I am wondering if this season should be considered a complete write-off and next season will indicate whether he will ever return to pre-knee injury levels.

We lost the trade on value. That’s the bottom line. But the team can still end up being better off for it.

Buch had no role here moving forward.

Blais brings things Buch did not, and offers reasonable skill at a very reasonable cost (that should remain that way for awhile).

Stop thinking about this trade in a vacuum and root for what we have. Look forward to what that second might be as well. Good draft coming up.
Buch had the role of 1st line RW. KZB was so solid. It was the salary that made him hard to keep. I think if Blais stayed healthy, that one goal versus NJ would still be the only one nice goal he's had with us. Even Gauthier has a nice goal with us.

I've actually liked his game in the limited minutes he has gotten. He has good hands, hits everything that moves, seems to be getting a little more mobile as each game goes by

He hasn't been good, and honestly not expecting him to get that much better. It's a low bar for expectations tho, I guess.

Troscheck didnt come back 100% right away. Neither will Sammy. These type of major injuries often take 1 year of rehab and they can take another season of playing before coming close to what they were before injury.

I thought he played better last night than he has since like game 1
He had a good last period. He seemed pretty passive for the first 2 IMO.
That hit in the last where he hunted the Isles player and caused a turnover for an excellent KK chance is what we need from him more often. It doesn't have to go to a scoring chance each time (and won't if he's playing with other 4th liners), but he needs to be disrupting plays and making defenders 2nd guess themselves

He is what he is, a guy who doesn't skate well, has decent hands, throws hits, not a good playmaker, doesn't shoot the puck. Very injury prone as well throughout his career. Really don't expect much from him at all.

Different sport but football players returning from ACL injuries still need some time even after being declared healthy to return to a previous level of play. I’m willing to be a little more patient.

Still though, awful trade that we will talk about forever lmao.

Buch has 2 big points in 6 games so far and has been injured much of the season like Sammy. Just saying.

Blais has lost a step. He was a good forechecker last year because he got to the puck faster. His game without an extra gear is extremely underwhelming.

I feel bad for him. He’s not a part of the future here.
